Ok, so I fairly recently started playing again (about a month ago). My account has been inactive for about a year before I started repaying, and before I stoped playing the big question for rogues was... Wich is better, Envenom or Eviscerate? Having been inactive while this great mystery was solved I unfortunatly do not know the answer, I am also deeply apologetic about "beating on a dead horse". I would apreciate it if one of you would be so kind as to fill me in.
Thank you,
wire5 (a.k.a. Arcency of Windrunner)

Neither.

In PvE soloing, use KS.

In PvP, it's situational.

No one uses Envenom. It's awful.

I'm not going to lie...that was pretty funny. At first, I thought that was the OP saying that. I was going to turn into Theo for a sec.

I personally don't use Deadly Poison in PvP. I go for the Wound/Crippling combo.

They're both terrible in PvE. You have a lot to catch up on in terms of theorycrafting; check out the Rogue Compendium in my sig.

Specifically the Important Rogue Links thread, with emphasis on the Roguecraft 101 link.

Edit: Feyras, I have like 3 OHs on me at all times, when I do arena I have one with Wound, one with Mind Numbing, and one with Deadly for different shiv applications.

I also have switch maccros for various poisons but I do it differently:
- Wound on MH, always
- Crippling on OH as a basis,
- Variation for the OH: Mind Numbing.

I think it is better to have this because:
- You want Wound to apply regularly, so on the MH is better,
- When you want Crippling or Mind Numbing to apply, they need to apply IMMEDIATELY, thus better through a Shiv.

But maybe I'm missing sth and I would be interseted to know why you think your solution is better.

Thanks,

nostra

I have Wound on MH always. I have extra OHs for shivving poisons on, to stack them faster.

It requires more attention to be paid, but against some comps it's very useful.

I.E. shivving Deadly onto a warrior 1v1 in your kiting, giving you that much more damage. Lots of the time playing mage/rogue it'll come down to rogue vs warrior for me.

The only time eviserate is useful in PVE is a 5pt crit with all your AP trinkets used against Curator during evocation. Back to back 8k crits are fun. Aside from that, I'd bind your eviserate key as far away fas possible...like the f12 key. I acutally don't think I have envenom even bound any more..

There is another time when Evis is useful ... when you're soloing, and you have the mob down to around 1k hp with 4 or 5 points stacked ... that pretty much is the end of the fight (talking about at level 62 now ... that number (1k hp) will be more as the levels rise.)

I burnt Boglash down last night alarmingly quickly (even forgot to pop Blood Fury and Trinket, which I had planned to do, and I even forgot to use my Agi scroll - heh, I had no idea how the fight would go). The thing is, in that fight, I forgot all about using Evis ... it was 4s/5r all the way (only need one rotation like that - it was enough). That after opening with Garrote.

Point is that there was no way Evis would have made it as easy in that situation - I know what numbers come out of Evis (thankfully, I pay attention to this kind of thing), and I saw what damage I did with the rupture. Now this wasn't raiding, or even 5 manning, but it WAS an elite, and it was a longer than normal fight - and in that situation - Rupture shone like you can't believe (well, I guess you can, but I was impressed).

Oh, I was 50% hp at the end of the fight ... was very impressed with myself ;-)

Nope, THAT one I remembered .. ;-)

I even remembered to Kick when he started his lightning cast, and a 5 point KS when he was about 30% was enough for me to burn him down the rest of the way without taking any more damage.

See, I know I suck in Big Situations ... but I remember most things ;-)

Not that it has anything to do with the OP, but dont forget Evis in PvP. While not the most used, you got a clothy at 10% and happen to have 5 CP's with KS on CD, ive found it quite handy.

So many abbreviations it looks like another language.
