for beginning raiding, 41/20/00 is definitely the spec to go, period. At this stage you don't have enough bonuses for MM to work.
MM never works for raiding, period.

That's kind of generalizing it and MM does work. Raiding guilds will often bring 2-3 hunters, all specced differently, 1 being BM, 1 being MM, and 1 being SV.
The hunters are put in the same group because they have great synergy together in increasing their DPS.

Also, depending on the encounter, the pet survivability might be really low where MM is better. Once you get DST and go into T5/T6 getting some haste gear, MM
can catch up pretty close although not as much as BM.

The 41/20 does pump out the most damage, period, but isn't the only spec accepted in raids. SV and MM hunters get their spots as well.

MM should not ever get to raid in 25 mans.
Their dps is weaker than BM even without pet, pets arent that hard to keep up and Ferocious Inspiration provides more dps than TSA.
Oh, and no raiding guilds dont bring 1 hunter of each spec.
The good ones bring 1 SV hunter and 2 BM to group with a feral druid and (usually) resto shaman.

It has been proven a thousand times since BC was released, MM is not a viable PvE spec.

Dont spread wrong information please.

Thanks for all the info guys, rate ups all round.

I'm striving to get exalted with SSO to get the sexy neck and I might do SL or SHalls for some legs.

Is a hunter expected to trap/kite in Kara?
I've got pretty good at kiting now but my trapping is still a bit rusty, I have the Best Lord chest, should I shoot for getting another piece for the -4 second trap cooldown?

Armoury

My guild is asking me to go along to Kara but I'm not sure my gear is upto scratch.

I've still got 6 greens I'm looking to replace (just about to grind the last primal air for my felstalker wrists), should I re-gem/enchant my current gear and head off to Kara as is or should I hold out for some more rep items/instance blues?

Ignore my +stam armour kits, they're just from levelling leatherworking Smiley: tongue

As someone else said, I wouldn't bother enchanting the greens since they will be replaced quickly one way or another.

...My current hotel wi-fi connection is'nt up to opening your armory, but I wanted to share something that I've found for my hunter: Big Red Kitty has a list of good blues that you an get off of JUST the AH... it might be a bit outdated with all the gear ramping we're getting pre-WotLK, but there you go.
