2pieceT5 give it a go. Its fun, change of beat and difficult.
Do your daily's, because all gold earned will be put into mana potions. I went through more mana pots as arcane in one raid night than in 2 months as fire.
Get friendly with your druids so they give you the innervates instead of healers.
Think about avoiding/declicking heroisms at times and/or use evocation at those times.
If your the only raiding fire mage, and you have fire warlocks, recongnize your gimping there dps by having no more scorch debuff.
Use Flame Caps and Destruction Potions as Fire if mana is no issue.

I know of the pitfalls of arcane being mana troublesome but id rather be going oom with 2 minutes left in a fight than have 1/2 a bar of mana at the end of one.
With no spirit gear you'll be going OOM in the first 2 minutes of the fight my friend, not the last two. Get your hands on as much spirit gear as you can, a shadow priest and a shammy if you can. And thats just to make the spec possible, playing it well is even harder than aquiring the gear to make it happen.
Even with everything going against you, i'd still recommend at least trying the switch, its fun and a great learning expierence. Gives a great understanding of the talent trees. Just recognize you may find yourself going back to fire to avoid the headache that arcane is.
