Metagems/sockets/Elemental ShamanFollow

Elemental Shaman and metagem slots:

Is anyone else confused about the gem requirements?

Here is what I'd think would be good for an Elemental Shaman:

The Destructive Skyfire Diamond requires 2 each of red, blue and yellow. I appear to have 3 red and 3 yellow so would not get the benefits right?

Then there is this one:

The Ember Sky Diamond requires at least 3 red gems of which I said above I have 3 of but in reality it is only 2 red and 1 orange in a red socket... This includes the 1 red in the Helm that I would socket the metagem in. Would I need to replace the orange with a red gem in the red socket to get the benfits?

If anyone can suggest a link that describes socketing gems I'd appreciate it!
