Aggro dump for Resto?Follow

Currently I have a lvl 28 druid that I'm leveling through instancing as Resto. 90% of the time, it can best be described as easy. But, as sometimes happens with lower lvl players, we'll occasionally get into a mess where I'm really pumping heals in an effort to keep all 4 of my party members alive. Next thing you know, I've generated a lot of aggro. At this level, I'm wearing mostly cloth for the mana and +healing benefit, so I'm not cut out for taking a beating.

Does the druid not have an aggro dump? Almost all the other classes I've played have some sort of method for reducing their threat. Any tips for a druid besides shifting to bear and abandoning my heals?

Find yourself a paly buddy and ask for Blessing of salvation =)

Do you have 5/5 Subtlety? If no, go respec and take that talents! Otherwise, druids don't have a lot of aggro dump. I never tried it, but maybe switch to cat and cower ?! If you pull aggro, go bear (don't attack) and wait for the tank to get aggro back.

At 70, I rarely pull aggro, if I know my tank's gear isn't that great, I will use Rej because it doesn't tick right away. I will wait a few seconds before going with the big guns. I may let the tank health go down a bit, just to give him the time to build some aggro. But again, I'm 70 (I leveled feral) and with 1600+ healing, Lifebloom in any dungeon will keep almost any tank topped off.

You could use the "let the health goes down method" and use Regrowth after 2 or 3 seconds. The threat generated will hopefully be less than what the tank has ! =)

If you run with the same group over and over, use a threat meter. Even when leveling my shaman, my threat meter is loaded (just in case I got an invite to a group).

Bear form, mostly. Bear form and hope the tank knows where taunt is.

At this moment you lack lifebloom so you're going to have to use Rejuvination. If you're like me in any form you didnt figure out hots are beautiful up until about 40.

The basic thing you need to know is the healing threat mechanics. For every point healed it counts as .5 threat. So basically your heals/2. Now some people may scoff at me for saying this but I'm a firm believer in keeping the tank at the highest possible health just for the fact that every tick of health he recieves from your hots when he's at full health won't count towards your aggro. So when he does take damage the damage is immediately countered by your hots and you're less likely to be tossing out big heals. We all know big heals = spike aggro.

But as a few others have stated get yourself 5/5 Subtlety and find a pally to run with who can blessing of salvation and the armor aura, the name of it escapes me at the moment. The higher level you become the more damage your tanks can output and it will eventually become harder for you to pull aggro. I also suggest getting the Subtlety enchant to your cloak when you're 70 since thats an extra 2% threat reduction.

But like I said before the higher level you become the easier it will be for keeping yourself out of aggro. Also one more little thing, bear form and have your tank taunt stuff away from you.

Hope this helps!

Druids have no ability to drop aggro, except cower. Which in this situation isn't very viable. There are talents in the resto tree that reduce the threat caused by your healing spells. You can also have a paladin give you blessing of salvation.

Other than that, you would have to rely on aggro dumping trinkets.

P.S. Don't forget to use barksin (if you have it)

Here's a little known gem.

If you're mature, intelligent and great with the ladies -ahem- you'd have rolled for a horde druid. Their racial ability War Stomp can be used in tree form, giving you a few seconds to whack a regrowth on yourself and spam the "SAVE THE TREE" warning macro. Another one is if you took up LW you MUST get Drums of Panic from the Keepers of Time. It'll give you a short AoE fear that, again, gives you a few seconds of breathing space. Great for PVP too! ALL FEAR THE DRUID!!

These are not aggro dumps as such but those precious few seconds can make all the difference between the tank turning around to catch the runner (while you pump yourself full of HoTs) and getting flattened. Being a pure PVE/Raid healer (I.e. Built like a twig, literally) I've found these have saved my *** many a time. Hell, I've even taken the pressure off over aggroing dps with a quick stomp and a deft heal.
