New with Pally... need some suggestions.Follow

Ok so i just switched form alliance PvE server to PvP 2 days ago. Had a 70 mage and pretty much only played that since buying WoW 2 months ago. Obviously a mage and pally are a lot differnt game play (exspecially since i was frost mage) but I figured it wouldn't be too tough. I find myself dieing quite a bit at lower levels (10-20). Either getting adds or just not being able to heal in time due to interupts. I seem to enjoy the pally and the versitallity of them, however those damn graveyard runs suck. Is this typical or am I just trying to run threw mobs to quickly? Not use to timing of things being I would hardly ever get hit as a mage. Im sure thing will change in higher levels, just was interested on any tips.

Well the first thing that you have to remember is a level 30 toon isn't the same as a level 70 toon Smiley: grin. It may seem obvious, but it can be easy to forget - you don't have all teh stuff that a level 70 paladin would have.

That said you shouldn't necessarily be dying that awful much. Are you dying to players or to mobs?

One thing - there's no shame in using a bubble and healing while bubbled (or even bandaging while bubbled but I think the early bubbles don't really last long enough for that - I could be wrong.

Also, what spec did you choose (or just post an armory link). After 20 you should be putting out some good damage and still be pretty durable so it should get better. Without a little more detail on what you're dying to and stuff it's hard to say what the problem is.

Just updated toon. You can see only lv 13 and starting Ret spec but not sure for how long. Mostly wanted BoM. I guessing its just cause being a mage I was use to cc and able to kill mobs 3-4 levels above me pretty easy. Doesn't seem to be the same with melee classes. Well, gunna play a while again tonight and maybe get better hang of it. Also what is your take on PvP vs PvE realms?

You are right to an extent. Paladins are exceptionally good at taking on higher level targets and multiple targets, particularly around 35+ as Prot spec. It will take some getting used to and finding a strategy that will work for you though, and knowing the limits of what you can and cannot handle.

As far as realms: I hate PvP, so I can't really give you any good input there :)

I've got a 70 prot pally on a PVP server....needless to say that I don't PVP much on him since trying to kill things as a prot spec'd pally is a little on the slow side. But if PVP is your thing, load up on any +spell damage plate that you can find once you hit outlands and stick to the ret spec and from what I've seen and heard, ret pallies are decent in the arena bracket.

Or you can always go the plate wearing priest route (holy) and be a godsend in a lot of arena teams or any bg's.

For lower lvl stuff going ret and doing pvp is fine, a little slow still since most players will usually be a little faster than you, but bubbling is always fun

I currently have a 52 prot pally, at lower levels (10-25) I would say pallies tend to come out lower than other classes mainly because you don't have many of the good talents/abilities (such as a 12 second bubble).

That being said in PvP I've dubbed my pally the rogue muncher, hit me as fast as you want you're only killing yourself

If you want to level better, get better gear. It will significantly increase your survivability.

Mages don't rely on gear much while leveling (since they don't get hit). As a Paladin, you are going to be constantly getting hit. You should be in full mail gear until you hit lvl 40. NEVER wear leather or cloth while soloing (unless you are not having issues anymore). Also, make sure you get decent gear that gives you good stats and armor. Then, your survivability will start to shine.

Also, don't forget to start your heal early. If you wait too long, the interrupts will kill you. It takes time to get used to. Once you figure it out, you will barely ever die again. :)

Cool thanks for advise. Had no issues last night, just had to start heal earlier based on how many mobs i had on me. Took on 3 same level and was fine. Pretty fun too.
