Question for race choiceFollow

#1 Jul 07 2008 at 3:46 PM Rating: Decent
I know there is no "best" race, but I'm re rolling from horde to alliance. Never made a hunter before and was just wanting some input, I'm stuck between nelf and draenei. I know the stigma with nelf hunters but I like the racial ability to stealth, and draenei for looks. Thanks for any opinions.

Leveling on a PvP server makes the stealthy NE nice. That plus a cat in prowl can be great.

Dreanai get the +hit bonus from heroic presence plus a HoT. Those are nice too.

Dwarves get damage bonus for guns plus a racial that clears many poisons and diseases.

Pick one. :p

Honestly not sure what I would want more haha, I only do pvp servers so I know how NE can work out, dwarf just isn't for me. I think I will end up going NE just because I plan on doing pvp with the toon. Thanks for posting a response.

Draenei's hit bonus is generally better for raiding... Shadowmeld is close to the best racial PvP ability there is when used right. So aye, go Nelf.

Trust me, Draenei aren't that aesthetically pleasing after a while. The females of the species maybe, but certainly not the males. If I had to do it over again I'd probably go with a female NE, just because she wouldn't take up 3/4 of my screen and look like she's running through molasses.

Alright thanks for all the posts, I decided on a female NE. With pvp being the focus shadowmeld will come in handy. Thanks again for all the responses.

True that. Immunity and removal of any and all poisons, bleeds and diseases, is a great PvP tool. Shadowmeld is only usefull if you are playing on Defense. Stoneform is usefull on both O and D.

Shadowmeld isn't useful at all in arena unless you're a healer.

It helps me drink just like it does for my druid, but i dont need it as much.
And escaping that rogue, viper sting, whatever else stoneform removes is really sweet.

I used shadowmeld in Arena to delay the usual "Kill the Hunter" first bit. It also let me see where best to attack from as the enemy formed up. Our team did better when our NE hunters were stealthed to start. Of course, this may only have been a benefit in the lower rankings.

I used it a lot on a PvP server to hide from corpse campers: rez in a bush and immediately hit shadowmeld. They'd get bored and move on. When I learned to eat and THEN hit shadowmeld, I could heal while watching them look for me. It was rather funny.

I rarely use it in Raiding but I do use it if I FD out of a 'wipe' and I need to hide from a pat or something. So, it's not useless but mostly so.

PvP has use, PvE... not so useful: very conditional!

I never got a dwarf Alt high enough to use Stoneform much.

Depends on your comp. Most double DPS teams will go for your healer before you anyway, especially if that's a druid.

Dwarven stoneform has helped my hunter on the tiny handful of times I've done battlegrounds. I've used it more recently to clear Moroe's garrotte while running Karazhan.
