What you do is prove them wrong and show how you can tank Vann and all his guards at once, so that next time they can see a prot pally and rejoice instead of shun. What you just did furthered in their minds the inability of protection paladins to perform.

It's getting better, I see people asking specifically for protection paladins for instances, as more and more people realize that they are the superior tanks for doing that stuff. People who put down protection paladins in trade chat more often than not are put in their place by everyone else calling them an idiot. And I am met with rejoice instead of pessimism when I join a party to tank now.

No one likes getting chided for their choices, but if you know it's the right one, and can argue it and fight it back then you shouldn't feel bad for it. The idiot's who say stuff like that are really just that, idiots. And it doesn't take any extra effort at all to prove them wrong, that's the beauty of the thing. Just do what you normally do and let your actions speak for themselves.

Pally Tank>Feral Tank>Warrior Tank

Ran ST a few hours ago most HORRIBLE tanking experience ever, we couldnt find a healer but we had a war tank so I decided to heal (as a prot pally) you cannot imagine how much healing aggro I was pulling... we're talking in a 3 mob pull I'd grab at least 1 mob sometimes 2... the tank dropped, feral tank in he did a little better but eventually he d/cd and we got a holy pally for healing, tanked the whole thing through only lost aggro when I was put to sleep a couple times :P
