I have been leveling my 38 pally but I only recently thought of looking into Alla for help. I was reading the Retro sticky, and it states that Seal of Command should be the bread and butter DPS. I've been wondering about that because I normally use Righteousness. When i use SoR i usually hit between 85-90 with my white hits. With SoC, I hit around 140 every 3-5 white hits.

My question is, wouldn't I be doing more damage with constant 85's over the semi-frequent 140's?

Assuming you are using the slowest, highest dps 2 handed weapon you can find, SoCom should be doing a lot more damage than SoR. It deals 70% of normal weapon damage, wheras seal of righteousness deals a small reliable fixed amount of holy damage.

Seal of righteousness paired with a one-hander and shield is your tanking seal, Seal of command paired with a big 2-hander is for raw damage.

I have to admit, I desperately need a new 2h. I've been having friends run me through RFD for the rare spawn that drops X'caliboar (I'm not sure how to link things on here.)

heres my armory in the meantime.

If you have the cash for it, i'd suggest going to the auction house and looking for a good two-handed weapon with a lot of dps, str and agility or stamina on it.

And a slight change to your talents would boost dps a lot at your level. Assuming you want to go pure retribution for the maximum damage possible, i would:

-Take all 5 points out of divine intellect. You haven't much +intellect on your gear (nor should you have really) so you're getting very little benifit from those 5 talent points.
-Take the 2 points from Eye for an Eye. It's just not a very good talent.
-Take 3 out of deflection. This one is more debatable, but i personally always spend talent points to maximise damage while leveling.

Put 3 points into improved seal of the crusader. A lot of the damage you deal to the enemy is holy, and the extra crit is really nice. Start the fight with SotC on like a buff, then instantly judge, seal SoCommand.

Finish improving sanctity aura.

Max out conviction, more crit is always good.

The 3 remaining points, you could either max out Sanctified Judgement (personally i would choose this, your judgements will return more mana than they cost, which really helps you minimize downtime drinking) or put them into Vengeance which makes you a real killing machine.

From there, i would move down the tree picking up everything except divine purpose (decent pvp talent, but doesn't see much use while leveling), and then either improve your heals in the holy tree and pick up divine strength, or move into prot to pick up blessing of kings, and precision.

ok thanks for the tips. I've been looking at my talents and i've been considering a respec. I just need to get some gold now, spent all my gold on mats for my weaponsmithing.

Thanks again.

also, should my build look more like this:

That's pretty much it, except i would leave divine strength til later. Two reasons, one, the sooner you fill in Ret talents, the sooner you get to Crusader strike. An extra powerful melee strike every 6 seconds that can proc seals? Yes please.

The other thing is, divine strength increases strength by a percentage, so you'll get more benifit at higher levels. Also, you really really want to max out Pursuit of Justice. The spell avoidence is so-so, but 15% extra running/mount speed is 15% less time spent running around. It saves you so much time. Also, 15% is faster than speed enchants, so with BoFreedom, you're literally unkitable, you can catch/flee from anything. Very cool talent.

Ok great, thanks again. Unfortunately I already respecced to what I had up there, so I would have to do it again to take out the divine strength.

If you have only re-specced once or twice, you will thank yourself for paying 5 or 10g to do it again and get vengance. MORE damage after i already hit with a spell or melee crit, and stacks/refreshes every time I crit you? Yes please!

Against idiots? Yes, against smart players? No it can be dispelled by 5 (six if you include mass dispell, but what priest would use that on BoF?) 108% is what most other PvPers will have, and that's still a hard distance to close. The ones who can not dispell it are warriors and paladins and warlocks, and warlocks can still fear and the others are melee classes.

Yeah that's pretty valid actually. In battlegrounds you can be more oppertunistic and you will generally meet poorer players. Against good players and at level 70 (the arena for example), the 3 points in PoJ may be better spent elsewhere. Certainly good while still leveling though.

Well the 15% is still faster than anyone else, and it does help bridge the gaps faster. He was just pointing out that just by having the talents it doesn't make you "literally unkitable".
