Arikara and Lightning BreathFollow

#1 Jul 04 2008 at 1:08 PM Rating: Default
I just tamed a lvl 28 Wind Serpent called Arikara with my lvl 28 hunter. But what bothers me is that normally Wind Serpents are supposed to have a skill called Lightning Breath. I haven't noticed anything like this on Arikara, she had no skills when I tamed her. Does this mean she doesn't have this skill and that I must tame another Wind Serpent to get it, or do I have to be higher level and train it at the pet trainer?

Thanks, I already went there.
Says, "Innate skills: None"
Trainable skills: there's a lot, and Lightning Breath is one of them.

It does, that's what I said. So the forum is actually closed, and thanks for the suggestion, Yuppley.

Petopia lists all the Beasts we can tame and what they can teach us.

If you had looked up lightning Breath it would have told you there are 3 serpents that can be tamed to learn it all in 1000 needles all easy to find.

You tame one and keep it happy with a little food and kill anything you can until you learn from the pet , then train your original pet.

All attack skills are learnt from the pets we tame , then we teach our old pets the new skills..

Oh OK now I get it... so actually I need to learn the Lightning Breath FROM another serpent by taming it and practicing the skill? Thanks a lot for the info I thought you bought it from the trainer... I'm still a newb hunter at the moment...

Glad i could help get you on the right track , i remember when i first started i had cower and growl and no other skills and thought hunters were always supposed to melee until a high level hunter saw what was going on and put me right , so now i never use cower and am always looking for the next level of pet skill as well ..

It took me quite a while to figure that out too. What an annoying mechanic. It's especially irritating that you have to train every single level.

Ok, just wanted to say everything is well, tamed an Elder Cloud Serpent and trained Lightning Breath 3, dumped it and trained Arikara. By the way I called it Vengeance (pretty direct pun, right?)

I suggest holding on to Arikara. That pet has a special animation when its called. See the Petopia page below.

??? to that sentence ? indeed you can learn the top level of any skill without the lower ones , the only problem there is if you then tame a lower level pet without its skill , like Arikara with no lightning breath but i guess you knew that and meant as you level along with your pet ?

This is the main reason why I tamed her. That, and Lightning Breath.
Smoke + Low rumbling noise = Awesomeness.
