quick thunderclap questionFollow

#1 Jul 03 2008 at 9:41 PM Rating: Decent
alright the description says that it only effects up to 4 targets.... so if im fighting like say 6 and i thunderclap, it will effect 4, but if i thunderclap again will it effect the other 2 or just reapply the effect to the 4?

I was under the impression that it affected 4 random targets but I could be wrong.

It's the 4 closest. The easiest way to tank more mobs than that is to strafe slightly from side to side, which will reposition the mobs and change which are closest. This is also useful in conjunction with Cleave, since it hits your target plus the closest.

If you're fighting six mobs, Thunderclap and then you (and hte mobs) don't move if you Thunderclap again it will hit the same four. The more likely answer is that you will hit four and the first two will go eat your healer, though.

I don't know how much experience you have with Thunderclap, but it causes damage and breaks crowd control such as morph etc. Be careful where you use it. I think that's the point of RPZip's last sentence. If you have six mobs up, either you broke crowd control or it's broken down already and it's probably a wipe.

Don't forget Demoralizing Shout. It's an AoE debuff, causes no damage, and even generates a little threat.

at the start of a fight, if there is CC down, or if there is more than 4 mobs, use demo shout first for snap threat and move the mobs away from your CC, then tclap, and try to keep tclap cycled. i think with improved tclap you can get up to 500 threat per target with it, and thats 2k threat for 13 rage and its pretty nice. you still need to get other rotations in, but you shouldnt have rage problems if your fighting 6 mobs.

What I do is just TC, then move slightly to one side, then TC again, etc.... While doing all that, hitting Cleave whenever I can. As long as I keep moving around, it's usually ok. The nice part about moving around is that you'll easily see which mobs you don't have aggro on.

Of course, I'm assuming that the 6+ mobs are generally non-elite (maybe a few elites tossed in the mix). If you are getting pounded on be 6+ elite mobs your level (or gear level), then you're pretty much toast.

the 4 target limit on thunderclap is one of the things that makes multi-mob tanking more difficult for a warrior - pallys have it so much easier. however, i hear rumors of a promised thunderclap "fix" for the expansion...
