Ranged weapon ?Follow

Ok so I'm currently specced BM (cookie cutter) and I'm starting to work on PVP. I took a break for a while from the game, but now I'm back.

Right now I have the Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle, which I recall works very well with my spec. Would anyone recommend a PVP ranged weapon that would be an upgrade? The ranged weapons I see have a speed of 3.00 and in the past it seemed to knock me out of rhythm. (I was survival at the time) I could go for the multi-colored chicken looking bow for badges, but I'm not really planning on running many instances.

I work with an auto shot/steady shot macro to keep from clipping autos.

Any advice?

Edit: As of yet I'm not really doing arenas. But I would like to in the future.

I think that Wolfslayer is perfectly fine for right now for you. The next upgrade would be Sunfury Bow of the Phoenix from Prince in Kara. After that I would go for the dead parrot from the badge vendor. I'm aiming for the dead parrot tight now.

For PvE, the only upgrades left for you are the dead parrot and stuff from end MH/BT and SWP.
For PvP, I highly suggest to respec to MM once you have enough gear to survive for 20 seconds.
Because at that point, BW wont do much for you anymore.

edit: and for PvP slower = better, because the slower weapons hit harder.
And since you wont get many shots in making those shots count is the way to go.
(2.6k+ multi crits ftw!)

The ranged weapon.

For a hunter, ya know.

A mace, stick or lawn furniture would look kind of funny being weilded by a guy in Robin Hood leotards.

Very true, but the OP was actually asking a legitimate question.

if you plan to do arena start now. sure you might lose every match, but 10 games a week will give you around 250(?) arena points

The lawn chair option would be kind of fun. :)

I think I'm going to go for the PVP crossbow that's available for honor now. When I get it I'll switch over to MM and re-learn how to play pvp MM. My boyfriend and I have a 2v2 team (he has a disc priest and rogue), but I'll need to upgrade my computer before arenas. My video card took a dive when they had the last big patch.

I just can't push myself to get that parrot thing. Shooting people with something that looks like road kill seems almost like the lawn chair thing. Funny, but looking at it would get old quick.

Besides, I'm pretty much casual right now. No need to be "the best of the best of the best .. with honors" - Quote Will Smith /Men In Black

Just want to have fun.

Meh.

Edited to help out.

Try going for the Season 2 Xbow. Its 27k honor and 40 AV marks I believe. Its a good bow, if a bit slow. It hits freaking hard though.

Ok, I have almost the full set of pvp gear and the crossbow. I also respecced MM.

I get the general idea of how to use this spec, (stings to mana drain, scatter shot a rogue in the face, deterrence to help against melee, imp wing clip and traps, etc)

But I do wonder if there are some good pvp tips that I'm missing. (any words of wisdom would be useful)

One thing I'm still sketchy on is the placement of traps and flares.

Also, is it still necessary to have a Steady Shot/Auto Shot macro? I always have both the auto and steady shot bars up so I can watch my rotation.

It seems like a macro would be counter productive in pvp. Am I wrong?

Right now I'm still doing BGs, but will start up arena soon so I snatched up a pet scorpid as well.

Place flares where there may be stealthies, or on a node you are defending. In AB, for instance, I like to stand beside the flag on a flare and drop a snake or forst trap next to it. This way I can see enemies approach, but more importantly the trap keeps the flag from being capped immediately if I die so I have a chance to run down and shoot the cappers before they finish.

The macro is a good idea, not only for PvP but for PvE as well. Its simpler to push one button and concentrate on positioning or kiting than to use multiple buttons and risk letting your enemy get close.

Finally, Scorpids aren't the greatest pvp pets in the world anymore. Not that they are terrible or useless, but if you want to max your dps, a Cat or Ravager is probably a better bet.

See that's the thing, no one ever seems to get caught in my freezing trap unless I'm already kiting them .. so I generally guard a node/tower/etc with snake trap and flares.

A frost trap slows them down yes, but I don't think it stops anyone from capping a flag. (?)

I generally place myself in between the trap and the flare.

I suppose an Auto/Steady shot macro would still be useful, (is it the same macro the BM hunters use?) Seems that I'm hitting a lot more buttons and don't have much time for a shot rotation with a slower weapon, and when I do I'll keep a watch on the auto shot cast bar. Ah .. I don't know. One thing less to watch is good right?

I have the scorpid ready for arenas (when I'm finally able to go) but I take my Humar on regular battlegrounds. I hear the scorpid poison is good for arena. Is this correct?

Oh and I'm loving the MM build and rogues are hating me. :D

That is correct, as long as you are doing arena with a drain team (tactic is draining the mana of the opposing healers and killing the opposing team once the healer is oom; thus it is a tactic about outlasting the opponent and not pure dps).
The scorpid is good for this as the scorpid poison covers the viper sting and makes it difficult for healers to get rid of viper sting, thus draining them a lot faster.

Ahhh. Ok, thank you.

I wasn't clear on how it worked. I thought of it as another dot to dispell but your explanation makes it much clearer.
