Plate Armor?Follow

I read that Paladin's can have the heaviest armor, but plate is not in my armor proficiencies. Can a paladin where plate armor, and how is it achieved?

Just to make clear, you need to train for plate from the trainer. The first time I hit 40 on a class that can upgrade their armor quality (my first Paladin) I thought it just activated, like when spending talent points. Nope, you train it like you would a new spell.
