working to SL/SLFollow

Sl/Sl is really an arena spec for 70 and not really meant as a leveling spec.

Leveling straight down affliction is widely considered the most efficient way to go. Some people respec at 60 to Demonology for the Felguard and it seems to work pretty well for finishing out the last 10 levels. Personally I tried Demo and found Affliction just a bit more efficient, but that's probably just personal preference.

Heavy Destruction builds (0/21/40) are generally not used for leveling, but for raiding t5/6 content. I have seen a few destro locks leveling and the playstyle is more like a classic mage really. Lots of burst damage, lots of drinking.

In the end it's up to your personal preference which is more fun.

I dont know if this fits toward the theme, but ill throw in this comment anyway, especially with WoTLK coming out...

I've done a lot of stuff at 70, dailys quests, farming, etc. and at least at 70, the best grinding spec is SL/SL (probably could be better with some modifications moving it away from pvp, but w/e)

so if at 70 you're doing nothing but killin stuff for a while, SL SL is a good deal

SL/SL is so not better than a Felguard.

The FG does a healthy proportion of free damage output, soaks up all incoming damage, and with Imp HF you can replace his health at only a minor cost to yours. When farming stuff full Affliction beats SL/SL because you can get Dark Pact and Drain Tank without having to Life Tap.

SL/SL is only really good for PvP, where it does shine.

Thats why I said it was arguable.

The main point was SL/SL is basically the worse grinding spec you can get and the only thing I could think of that might be as bad was 0/21/40 and even that is probably better assuming a decent level of gear.

Farming as Sl/Sl isn't as efficient as deep affliction (right now sailing along with 40/21/0) or demo when it's 1-on-1 for sure. But have you guys ever tried Sl/Sl with multiple mobs? I do remember the short time I was Sl/Sl (a week or so experiment) that taking on several mobs was very easy with the survivability aspect. Just gather up while I walked through an area and slowly wear them down, similar to early 70 tankadin farming (well, not THAT many mobs of course). Just be sure to keep Siphon up on them all ;)

Anyway, in the end it's not the farming game that will determine your spec, but what you're doing end-game that will.
