DPS vs hp/mpFollow

Greetings once again alla people. I'm in need of some boots so I've been playing around with Cheeky's spreadsheet with various boots from Aethien's list. I came across 2 pair of boots that I thought I could easily get my hands on though it basically seems like I'd be giving up hp & mp for DPS and just wondered what the braintrust here would do. I'll give you the names of the 2 pieces as well, but I am not as interested in what item is better per say but rather how you would evaluate something like this so I can make more informed decisions when this situation arises in the future.

Items.........................DPS...........................Health...................Mana..................Armor
Wild Stalker Boots.....830.58.........................6917.....................6448...................5317
Fel Leather Boots.......841.12.........................6665.....................6193...................5055

To me, that DPS just looks very tasty, but I have never raided yet (gearing myself up for Kara) so I don't really know how hard it would be to sustain my mana throughout the fight so I can keep that DPS up. If you must know I would gem the Leather boots with Glinting Nobel Topaz x2 since I am not hit capped and the socket bonus isn't too bad.

If you are not hit capped the Fel leather boots are the way to go. I have not been able to get out of leather and keep the hit cap yet. (although if I hadn't of take the wrong damn ring first time out of Kara I would be straight)

Zehuntard only has +60 hit at the moment. Go for the fel leather boots for the greater hit bonus.

Go for the Fel Leather Boots, but socket 1x Glinting Noble Topaz and 1x Rigid Dawnstone. You're nowhere near the hit cap, so you need all the hit you can get. Any yellow socket should be +8 hit and any red socket should be the +4 hit/+4 agi, assuming you want the socket bonus. If you don't, then just socket for pure hit.

You're right to be concerned about your health. You're pretty low at 6665 HP (I'm assuming that's unbuffed). You'll be OK raid buffed at about 8K, but you should look at getting some more HP if you can without sacrificing too much in terms of DPS stats.

That is what I was leaning toward in this case because I need the hit, but lets look at it from a higher level. Assuming that I was hit capped (and not over) in both scenarios, whether it is from regemming or whatever, what would you do? Would you go for the higher DPS and give up some health and mana.

Basically is 11 DPS worth 252 health & 255 mana? Actually, when I typed it out like that I do think 11 DPS is worth that but what do you all think?

and good call on the gems camel, that would be even better. I just threw those in there for now as I didn't really want this to become a what item should I choose post, but rather a stat vs stat post. Maybe that isn't really possible as it varies too greatly given each individual character.

oh and I'm not Kara ready at all yet, still goign to get the PvP shoulders which will help.

I would exchange 1dps for 1k hp and 1k mana as long as I have no problems surviving encounters and maintaining my mana pool.
So optimize your DPS while keeping a certain amount of HP and Mana.

For normal instances, heroics and Karazhan 8k hp buffed is enough, you even could manage with 7k buffed (though Arran and Illhof might become tight fights).
Mana is not that important in 5mans and heroics, no fight is long enough to drain your mana pool completely (at least not when you use a mana pot on the longer boss fights).
I have raided Kara and the early 25mans with ~6k mana unbuffed and I had no real mana problems. As long as you are willing to pot, your mana pool is not that important.

You would not believe what runs around in Outland nowadays :)
I've seen a lot of stupid stuff and not potting is by far not the most stupid thing I have seen.
