I'll say it...I derive a great deal of enjoyment in how my character looks. I know this is the virtual equivalent of playing with barbie dolls and has zero impact upon my performance. But hopefully I'm not the only guy out there that suffers from this need to have an aesthetically pleasing toon.

Having said that...what the hell is up with all of the purple cloth gear? My level 67 human mage (a male) looks absolutely ridiculous running around in his mismatched purple and lime green clothing. I'm a fire-spewing nightmare that should make all the non-elites quake in fear. But it's really difficult to appear threatening in such "fabulous" equipment. I look like some third rate pimp from the 60's!

I hope that when I hit 70 I will be able to wear something a little less "loud".

Hehe , well you could have rolled a female Mage .

seriously though from all i have seen of Mage clothing it is mostly better suited to female characters anyway .

Yep, we look better in dresses, which is the essence of a mage's outfit.

What males needed are long beards and stuff so you don't notice the dress...er..robe.

male mages on the alliance side just look like their musclinity is challenged. Horde side not so bad.

gnome males still look crazy, though nothing beats a T6 gnome tank.

Well I haven't taken it such a big issue for me but still I rolled a female Belf as a mage to avoid this problem. My friend criticised(?) my female toon and told me that there is no sence making a female toon (as we both are IRL male), well I just responded that I feel more comfortable using a dress on female toon than male dude.

Though my next char is a male tauren shaman and he will be resto so here we go again. I better make up some story about some ancient ******* or that all female chars are needing a tauren gay friend. Dunno but to answer something for OP... Mages are seriously lagging those terrifying and scary outfits unless u count terrifyingly bad looking missmats.

LOL, last night I got a nice chest drop from a quest for my female human mage. It had great stats and when it was put on it looked like a purple halter top with only 2 buttons from a 60's **** flick and most of her boobs were hanging out. Now don't get me wrong she looked hot but man how can something this like that protect you from the dangers of WOW? I know the 30% health gain is to keep her alive while she fights off the horny smucks in the bars LOL.

which is why I spent some coin to buy a cheap shirt at low levels. Its much more comfortable to walk around with a shirt with my robes around them.

You're wearing lime green and are complaining about the purple clothing? I assume it's the hideous green pants of awfulness you're wearing?

Ahhh you know them. Horrible lime green things with purple "tiger stripes" on them. Matched with a purple chest and purple/gold shoulders I am easily the worst dressed of any group I join. Yet I am still color coordinated.

My first and last male caster. Think sex changes will become available in WoTLK? :-)

I suspect it's the deadly boring leggings from the Blood Forge quest you're talking about. Find yourself a robe and matching shoulders, and turn off your cloak and hat. Yes, sometimes gear can be too ugly for words.

lol... my mage could be dressed in spray painted burlap and I'd be fine with that. I'm watching the big numbers over the mobs/threat meter, not my butt. :-D

I'm actually wearing some blue BoE pants. "Nagahide" something. But the graphic IS identical to several quest rewards that I have seen.

Know them? They're the reason I pushed so hard to raid in TBC. I don't ever want to have to level looking like something Elton John's wardrobe threw up ever again.

I can spot a leveling lock a mile away. All with the purple/green pants, purple chest, and the red pimp hat.

It's your uniform, wear it with pride!
(and ignore those snickers you hear as you pass, they must be looking at the bad lookin dude carrying the rainbow brite axe)
