Hey all, after deing far to many times on my warlock and relizing that meele dps is the only real playstyle I can handle (I'm suicidal while playing...) I rolled a rogue and have begun to level him.

After reading the sticky and figuring out that combat is the way to go, I developed a few questions:

**Note I have one 70 already so money isn't really an issue**

1) Should I be buying the best swords for each level, give or take 3-4....or should I be buying/getting the best weapons I can get until blade fury/sword specilization?

2) For gearing I should get agi>stam>basically everything else till later

3) Are there certain items in the lower levels, IE 10-30 that I HAVE TO GET, such as the defias chest, the Cruel Barb extra...

4) For MH and OH should they both be as fast as possible, or do I want a slow MH and faster OH, or some combination of the two...?

5) I plan on getting, at level 40 Two http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?source=live;witem=13034 and putting +15 agility on both of them, farming for shards atm...or is there something better/different I should be looking for?

6) Is there any other advice/flaming/what ever else you would say/recomend (other then improve your grammer, which I appologise for)

Quick reply as I'm at work.

1. Not so important - just take your quest rewards. The variance in dmg is minimal at lower levels.
2. Differing opinions, someone correct me if I'm wrong. For leveling +hit (higher levels)>agi>stam>AP>crit
3. Can't remember about lower levels. I've got a buddy who took a white weapon and put fiery on it and used that to 20 on all his toons.
4. Not an issue really until lvl 20, when poisons become available. There are literally 200 threads on this issue. Faster off hand for poison and CP procs, highest top end damage MH. Again, not really a huge issue until you get into the higher lvls.
5. I had the Thrash Blade and the Sword of Omen for ages, cannot remember what levels they come at though, TBH.
6. Advice - While lvling, you'll be doing a lot of 1v1 on mobs, at least until blade fury. Stay in stealth and remember that ranged weapons can be your best friend when soloing quests requiring multiple mob kills.

Good luck!

Read the stickies again, the answers to these questions are in there ;)

Quick reply:

You don't need to buy anything. But you can keep an eye on the AH if you want for items that have the right stats ect. I tend to be more frugal while leveling. It's just not that big a deal and epic flyers are teh awesome.

Gear for PvE is always Hit > Agi > AP/Crit/Etc > Stam.

Nothing that's all that "must-have" as much. I had a couple pieces of Defias and they lasted maybe 5 levels?

Ok... this is important: Main-Hand should be the highest average damage weapon available. Off-hand should be the fastest weapon available. Period, and end.

I found 15 agi a waste really, go fiery while leveling. It's cheaper, easier to find and generates as much if not more DPS in the end.

Any flaming, eh? Yeah.... ummm...... L@spell noob! ;)

Thankyou Therion.......yeah the weapon thing helped a lot, does the damage for MH mean (dps it says on the weapon) Like 30-57 2.8 Speed 15.5 DPS that part?

The actual dmg is what you should look at for your MH.

Take the top and bottom of the weapon damage range and average them. DPS is a quotient (dmg/time) and not directly used in the game mechanics calculations. For instance check out the calculation method for Eviscerate.

Getting heavily into theorycrafting isn't required to have fun soloing a rogue. Hell, I didn't really care until raiding. But a knowing the basic mechanics (why Hit is better than Agi, etc) helps make gear choices much easier.

Good luck!
