I am a 70 moonkin. I am not new to 70 was feral tank spec before but I got tired of all the stuff I get dropping for me being crap and never excelling at tanking, so I changed to what I also knew and that was moonkin. My question is, will the Spellstrike set and other cloth gear be good, or is there better gear that I can get for my moonkin and will I get the parties to get it? http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Wildhammer&n=Giantpooh

Yes, yes, depends on whether you can speak more intelligibly in game or not.

This might be a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway as I've been told the only stupid question is the one un-asked.

Why would you want cloth gear when a Druid can wear Leather?

Casting equals not being hit on, in theory at least. Cloth gear can be easier to find with better stats. Better stats equals better damage or heals. Better damage equals profit.

This.

If you're being hit as a caster in a group, you've done something wrong. Also, Moonkin get a bonus to armor contribution from items so they can afford to wear cloth and still be less squishy than your average clothie, although that applies mostly to solo play. When it comes down to level 70 content, most of it involves grouping. Those groups will most often include tanks. Tanks soak the hits. Casters do not Proper use of an addon like Omen ensures this. Most AoE damage you'll take in a group is some form of magic, meaning that your armor value offers no protection. With that in mind, there are three cloth wearing caster classes with at least one dps tree and only one leather wearing class that does caster dps. It stands to reason that dps caster gear will be more abundant in cloth form. Unless you're a tank, there's never any harm in downranking your armor if it means increasing other more important stats.

That makes a lot of sense. I've not played a caster before starting my Druid so I wasn't aware of what types of cloth armor is availiable. Although I recently started a Warlock so I guess if I level him up high enough I learn first hand. Currently I'm spec'd as Feral and I like it alot. I'll have to try either Resto or Moonkin at somepoint to how I like those specs

Ok, all that info i already knew. I just need to know if the cloth +spell hit and damage gear is better then straight leather spell damage and crit gear. I am trying to get myself into kara and gruuls really soon if i can. lol my guild was even going to push me into TK cause they just needed some extra damage. I just don't wanna let my guild and friends down.

Because Sunwell Plateau and badges aside, there are only 5 epic leather drops for druid caster dps.

Amaiya beat me to the punch. You'll end up wearing more cloth as a balance druid than you will leather starting out because until you either get a load of badges and buy badge gear, until you make the windhawk set if you go tribal leatherworking or if you just get the tier 4 and up balance gear.

Balance druids are so much fun to play but it sucks like something awful to gear them.
