I agree with Pol about 90% on this.

The problem I have is that in order to enter combat with a mob - I must expose myself to lower mana and (specifically on those ranged mobs in SSO Quests) some damage. This instantly puts me at a huge disadvantage to the other classes (Save any Healer spec).

[b]The complete and utter inability to solo quest bosses while leveling. I can't slow them down, I can't freeze them, I can't daze them. They are immune to all forms of cc. I'm not talking 5-man or raid bosses here. Just the little "bosses" at the end of some quest chains.

I agree with your comments 100%ac. I have toon in every other class that is 60 or great except hunter my is 50.

My mage was the 1st toon I made. He just got to 69 yesterday. In mean time I have taken Druid/Warrior/Rogue to 70 & all my other toons high 60's except for my hunter which I like play the least because as much I hate to admit this he is so over powering that I can gain levels with anything want to in pve. I have try changing build multi times for my mage but run in same problems you have ran in too. I have ask same questions ask too. The real answer is that it a part of being mage unless some out of world gear which require great guild and a lot of time. All can do hope WOW try to make mages better overall class then it is now. I only play mage it is most interesting class to play but with out a doubt other much more pve real then mage are. I can't speak pvp because

The fact that one class has trouble soloing bosses which were designed for 2-3 people to kill does not mean Blizz needs to change the class. (I've yet to see an example of a solo quest boss a mage can't solo, as opposed to the elite group quest bosses that certain classes and certain specs like a prot pally or feral druid or anything hunter can take down.) Mages are terrific levelers. We may need a little help in PvP and end-game dps but c'mon. Give me a mage three-shotting mobs any day over a pally who takes an hour and a half to kill something but can solo an elite.

tuskerdu I do agree with you WOW shouldn't change mages in major ways. I just like see slight increase to make little bit better in PVE players. But I do understand the need to keep balance in game. Since I don't play pvp or BG that much I do realize this might be reason why mage can't be improved in PVE because could make them too powerful in other areas of game.
