I'm demo spec'd so have the option of using any pets, but have noticed that a lot of locks seem to use the fel hunter as their pet when farming primals on the elemental plateau and wondered why this was? Currently working on my frozen shadoweave set and need quite a few primal fires and was wondering if it would be better to use my felguard and pull a couple of fire elemetals at once, or just use my fel hunter and just do them one at a time?

I never farm primal fires. There are only a couple places to get them, and they are always overcrowded. I find it easier to farm a different Primal, I like Shadow, and sell them. The use the money to buy the Fires.

Because the area is always overcrowded, perhaps that's why people use the felhunter, he is a good PvP pet.

It's most likely because they are sl/sl. They are just used to having a felhunter out.

If you're full demo, go with the felguard. He hits the hardest and will help you kill things quicker.

It's probably because they are SL/SL, but the Felhunter does have its perks, even as Demo, but mostly for Master Demonologist and Spell Lock - not so much anything else. SL/SL is a drain tanking build, as well. If you're Felguard demo, just stick with the Felguard; I use the imp as affliction when I'm farming primals myself, or sac a voidwalker when I'm DS/SnF.

Also, if you're on a PvP server, whether destruction or affliction, the Felhunter may still be a good choice, and the Felguard still has its perks in PvP encounters as well.

If Dark Pact is an option, then I generally farm with Imp out.

I'm currently specced SL/SL for Arena purposes, and when I need to farm or do solo dailies I actually generally roll with a Demonic Sacced Voidwalker. With 11khp the 2% per 4s is very noticable and I can easily Lifetap for Mana and maintain over 85%HP while engaged with multiple DoTed monsters. The effect is similar to using Dark Pact with an Imp, although it's much less on demand and much more a constant, steady flow.

This changes when in a heavy PVP area, however. Especially for a few of the longer dailies, I choose to have either the Puppy out if theres many Ally and Horde around, or a VW if I feel like everything's a little too quiet. While the VW cannot detect Rogues/Druids quite as well, the Master Demonologist + SL in addition to my Resilience prove to put up quite a fight against most Rogues and Druids relying on a quick kill, and in emergencies nothing beats a Voidwalker's Sacrafice.

it's the same on my server, farming primal fire, pretty much fire, or air is pretty pointless unless you've got like your full t5 gear and can just blow through all the elementals as well as anyone else farming them. It's a good idea to just farm something a little easier like primal shadows or primal mana and just use that money to buy the fire that I need. Thanks for that.

Use your felgaurd, he hits harder and gets hit harder, just make sure to DoT them and health funnel and theyll die pretty fast
