Forgive a warrior trolling the rogue forums, but...

My guild is currently in early T5 content and working on Leo. The top dpsers in the raid are usually one of the mages, one of the hunters, myself and two of the rogues. One of the rogues is slightly better equipped with a hundred or so AP and a few crit% more than the other rogue, badge fists, fist spec and 500-600ms latency on a good day (playing from South Africa). The other rogue has about 30 more hit rating, 91-92 dps swords, sword spec and 1-200ms latency (playing from the US). I would link them both from the armory, but unfortunately can't do that from iPhone. However, the latest WWS are showing the second rogue at about 900-1000 dps on Leo, and despite the gear discrepancy he is either right there with the first rogue or topping him slightly.

I don't remember exactly what their rotations were, but iirc they both had identical usages of SS and SnD, with maybe variance in usage of rupture or evis that I can't recall. I dont remember what poisons they were using either, but hopefully I can dig up an older WWS with both of them in it. I thought maybe the second rogue had a very high time on target to the point if taking too much damage and healing, but he seems to show up near the bottom if healing taken.

I'll try to follow up on the missing info, but essentially I'm wondering if sword spec, +30 hit rating and better latency would allow the second rogue to dps as much as he is able to.

Link us armory/WWS or we really can't tell. You're giving us very little information.

Even without more information, that 500-600 latency on perfect rotations is going to matter. From what you have given, swords do slightly more damage than fists given equal items (read the forums a lot to find that, flame me if im wrong) and that 30 hit rating (assuming the first one isnt capped is huge). Looks like the first rogue needs some tweaking in that hit rating department. As far as latency, thats a hard one to just "fix".

Yes hit matters that much. Take my PvP rogue into an instance and see 150+ misses on normal melee...you do the math if i didnt miss.

edit- woops I read that wrong.

We have plenty of bad rogues in my guild (I raid on my mage). They have the loot, they just suck. Some people are like that, doesn't matter how much gear you throw at them, they still do terrible DPS/TPS/healing.

link to first rogue's armory - Darthbane

link to second rogue's armory - Thrymr. he looks to be in some mix of PvP/PvE gear at the time i posted this.

unfortunately, my guild has no premium access to WWS and the older WWS with both rogues in the raid are expired. this link goes to the most recent WWS and has the second rogue in it. (DISCLAIMER for my stats: i was tanking adds on Hydross, and i died halfway through Lurker >< ran into melee range after a Whirl before the tank did. was #2 on my Recount before i died too =( )

when i get my hands of more WWS with both rogues, i'll update this post. soz for the missing info, as i said before i can't cut/paste/link on my iPhone.

I just want you to know, i hate both of your rogues for having a dst =[
Please please please tell your rogues to stop gemming for crit. Honestly just looking at their gear, the one with fists should be out dpsing the one with swords. But taking into account lag and use of cooldowns could change dps pretty drastically.

Here's my Armory link: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Eonar&n=Zzadaun

hopin to replace Skyguard cross with DST and/or SoC other than that just got back from a month offline so have Recount to track my boss DPS when i get back to raiding this week.

So let me know what ya think, and feel free to toss in some pointers

Thanx

P.S. We have reached Archimonde in Hyjal and gotten 1st boss in BT down so if anything from either place might work better lemme know. Thanx again.

Use the SSO exalted neck.

Leo is really not one of the bosses where I would measure DPS. Morogrim is much better (or are you taking on Leo before Morogrim?)
Anyhow, 600ms latency is BAD. If I had to guess, I would say it's 20% dps drop.

both rogues seem to have logged out in their correct PvE gearsets now, as yesterday was mag/gruul farm. you'll see Thrymr's hit rating at 294. if there is a WWS up it might have both of them in it, and i'll post it up if it is there.

yes, we are taking Leo on before Morogrim. i feel that Leo takes more skill to DPS on, so it would be a fairer assessment as far as how much skill determines DPS. much more so than a fight like mag as long as the dpser isn't clicking.

Yeah, it's bad - not so bad in Solo play, or even if everyone's on the same latency ... but incredible bad when it comes to playing with others with a faster latency. Welcome to OUR world ;-)

Minus the latency, it's hard to make a fair assessment since Darthbane has buffs while the other doesn't. (and I'm too lazy to calculate them at the moment).

But the first rogue should still have higher dps.

Do you know if there is any particular reason the fist rogue sockets for stam bonuses but not agil? He could easily increase his hit. I would reccomend to both of them to get the badge necks, and to rethink how they socket their gear.

SSO neck is better.

My guess without being able to watch them in action to see what they do is hit rating.

I haven't gotten the SSO neck yet as I am exalted with Scryers and i heard for Scryer it isn't very good.

It's still not bad, actually. Not as good as the Aldor one but *shrug*.
