Hunter

* All kind of pets will have their own talent tree. A tanking talent tree, a DPS talent tree, and an utility talent tree. Each kind of pet family will have its own talent tree and its own unique ability.
* The shot clipping will be removed from Steady Shot, you'll be able to use it without "interrupting" your autoshot. Hunters will be able to just smash their button.
* There are going to be new pets in WotLK.
* The skill points for each pets are being changed to the new "Pet talents" and will disappear.

I like it and it kinda goes along with the "How to improve pets" threads.

Plus Button mashing ftw...

No... That sounds like button mashing FTL!

To me, that sounds like the death of the 3:2 shot rotation. For those of you who don't know, smashing just Steady shot over and over will produce the same result as using the 3:2 macro:

/cast !Auto Shot
/cast Steady Shot

The only reason we use the steady shot macro is to add in the line for kill command/Lightning Breath (for the people who use windserpends). If spamming steady shot will no longer result in clipping auto shots, then it will revert back to a 1:1 shot rotation.

But I'm not totally inclined to believe this round of "hunter changes." The idea of the talent trees for pets sounds credible, since it's been a much-needed change for years. It'll make it more obvious to new hunters that pets can have more than what they are just trained with. Hopefully, it will also correct the problem with teaching an old pet new skills. Maybe it will be the end of seeing level 70 hunters in end-game raids with a cat that only knows bite rank 2, but no claw.

The verbage of the rest of those changes doesn't sound official. It's a he-said, she-said from interviews with the class developers. It may or may not make it into the game. And let's hope so, too! I really don't like the changes they're making to shaman. Hopefully Strength of Earth/Grace of Air will be able to be out at the same time as Windfury, or else we'll NEVER see our DPS jesus.

These are official changes that are currently in the alpha. Of course everything is subject to change, but that doesn't make this less true.

As to the auto shot change, it's a fantastic, fantastic change. It opens up so many options, I'm really excited about this, it's been a needed change for a long time.

This is incorrect.

Then you either haven't read the patch notes fully, or you have no idea what you're talking about. I'll go with the first. Raid wide buffs are fantastic.

also, via petopia, from the questions of new pets, they weren't clear if there would be any new FAMILIES. It may be a blessing in disguise, however, since the sporebat was a complete and utter failure.
