MP5 vs CritFollow

#1 Jun 28 2008 at 3:52 AM Rating: Decent
Long time reader, not too many posts but struggling for good advice here. Got bored of playing my lock so started rolling my Pally so I got him into a T5 casual raiding guild. Right now my unbuffed stats are sitting at 1859 +healing, 21.36% Crit & 128 MP5 while casting. During raids 95% of the time we run 2 Shaman healers so get a nice buff from the totems and I usually run Adept's/Draenic for pots and Sporefish for food buff. What stat should I be stacking up on? Also what is there a 'soft cap' for Pally MP5?

Armory Link: Solastia ...Smock all you want at my talent tree as I was fiddling with it for Arena

Thanks!

Your stats are pretty solid for where you are at. Enchants, talent build etc nothing to ***** about.

A rough guide to mp5 vs crit is 8 mp5 = 1% crit. That is very rough estimation though since the actual numbers are different depending on Holy light or Flash of Light. Generally at a t5 level you want 100-110-with 24%+ crit. You are a little mp5 heavy but not all that bad. In fact you`re just right for T5, at least better geared than I was when I entered it thanks to badge loot and vindicator neck.

As for a hard cap on MP5 I don`t think there is one, hell I am 250+ mp5 while casting when raid buffed now. As always I recommend balance, Spell crit and Mp5 both give you mana back end of the day, spell crit favours short sharp fights, mp5 long ones but over all with 26% holy crit (base) and 156 mp5 while casting (unbuffed) I still copious amounts of mana back from both. If you look at a Pally that stacks just MP5 or just Crit they might get more mana back from that one but when you look at both together, they come out behind. So balance, look at gear look at gems, look at trinket.

As for consumables I would recommend Elixir of Healing Power and Elixir of Major Mageblood, though if you find Ancient Lichen is a pain in the *** to purchase you can always use Draenic Wisdom. Food is Sporefish, I also keep a stack of Golden Fishsticks on me (if only cause I fish my own and I catch them in the process)

While the topic is still up, i'm having a little problem with my stats. I'm not in holy gear or spec in my armory right now, but here's how it reads. 2.2k healing, 19.5% crit, about 120 mp5. I think i've overdone my Healing a bit too much and kind of gimped my other stats. I use a redeemers alchy stone and i pot regularly, but i'd like to stop having to do that. our guild does T5 content mostly, little bit of T6, just RWC down. Any tips on how to rebalance my stats? i was thinking of ripping out ALL my healing gems and putitng in 8 crit ones, which would lower my healing by about a hundred, not too sure how much it'll help my crit though. any thoughts?

Checked your armory twice over the weekend, get out of your ret set!!!!

As always think of your trinkets as a way to balance gear, I have spell crit, mp5 and + healing trinkets and can change them out to compliment the fight. Mp5 favours FoL, Spell Crit favours HL. Recount can break down HL/FoL ratio on fights so you can see where you need to balance things out. Gems are another way but you dont want to spec straight crit or mp5 that is bad. Work your Divine Favor into your macros so its gets used (preferrably on HL) and proactive Divine Illumination use. Once you do fights enough you get to a point where you know where the spike damage is going to come in. For example Bloodboil I can time Divine Illumination on one Fel Enrage, click my "Use" trinkets for the next one and have Divine Illumination up for the next. Getting the most out of your abilities like that really helps go that extra mile. Same with proactive mana pot usage. If you have 11k mana and the Mana pot is going to give you 3-4k mana back then use a pot at 7k mana, not when you are oom.
