Lamellar GearFollow

Does anyone know if there is a legitimate build for lamellar gear? I'm currently a "Take lots of hits and spam flash heals" arena pally, but from what I've been reading, lamellar gear is useless for all three talent trees outside of what I'm doing in arena.

It's there for shockadins, and yeah it's useless as so is the build. Shockadin build is in the FAQ, and it's a 40/0/21 build that tries to be a plate caster. They are capable of some quick burst damage, as well as being able to heal themselves somewhat effectively, but overall they will go OOM too fast and be a sitting duck.

Thats not what lamellar gear is for. You need the ornamented gear. Lamellar gear is for spell damage, and it sucks, especially now that healing gear gives spell damage.... my first 2 arena purchases were lamellar gear, which i got for soloing. Havent solod with my pally since i hit 70 >_>. then they gave healing gear spell dmg. waste of points oh well

I find that if i get all the ornamented gear, i can heal really well and if i feel like going 1v1 against that lone horde, i have the spell damage to do it. the only Spell damage gear i would eber get is the gavel for tanking(MAYBE) but there are better out there for that purpose too

im not necessari;y disagreeing with you, because i know that spell damage is really important, but shouldnt you also have defense rating or shiled block rating on your main hand as well as spell damage?

So lamellar gear is no better than ornamented at keeping me alive, and the critical heal effect on lamellar is inferior to the heal effects of ornamented?

You only need avoidance ratings on your weapon if all your other gear is lousy, meaning t4 and below. Once you get decent gear you can afford to just grab a really high spell damage main hand and ***** any form of avoidance stats on it. I'm also pretty sure that the lamellar gear exists for prot pallies to use in pve, the same way people use ornamented for pve healing and scaled for pve dps some times. Once you get good enough gear to start swapping out avoidance and stamina pieces for threat ones, the lamellar gear is pretty useful.

Ewww, no, NEVER use PvP gear to tank in! Exceptions are the spell damage weapons and 'maybe' a shield, but as for the rest of it, never.

As for avoidance on your weapon: ice is right. You don't need it on your weapon, and currently there is really only 1 weapon in game at level 70 that is itemized with that mindset: Crystalforged Sword. It would be nice to have a better weapon itemized for us Tankadins, but after that sword, you just want a high stam/spell damage weapon, and leave all avoidance stats to the rest of your gear.
