I was reading the VWs bio on wowwiki, and they said somethimg about putting your VW on passive and having it continually cast consume shadows while soul link is up. Is this possile, Because I thought that when you entered combat it would drag your pet with you. Was I wrong?

Consume Shadows which is an out of combat self-heal for the Voidwalker.

Not only that, but Consume shadows uses the VW's mana, reducing your Soul Link's effectiveness. It also stops the VW, and prevents it from following until the spell is done. The VW is not the best pet to use with Soul Link due to the small mana pool.

I think Mike is mixing up Dark Pact and Soul Link. VW is great to use for Arena against multiple melee dps/hunters. As to using Consume Shadows... I dn't think I have ever tried but I am pretty sure your pet joins you in combat like you said. Unless maybe you put him on stay and move 30+ feet away. Will actually give that a try in arena but not too sure it will work.
Don't really see the point though as if My pet dies from Soul Link damage I am probably gonna die long before it or crap on my healer(s).

I think he still regains HP if you start consume shadows before combat, but once you enter combat, he joins along and you can not start it again until out of combat. Also even if you were able to start it, everytime you are hit the VW would be damaged and cancel the cast.
