Hello, i just am thinking about getting wow and being a Hunter or Paladin, i just have a few questions. one thing im confused about after some research is the Healing / Retribution / Tanking paladin thing. I take it there are different skill paths you can choose in order to do certin things, but does that mean my pally will ONLY be able to do that path? or can i change depending on the situation. basicly if i decided to go for Tanking, can i still change to Retribution later if i want.

At anytime you can drop all your talent points spend, Respec. It costs gold each time you do it, so you should use caution. Play around and talk to other paladins. The FAQ might also be a good read

At any time, yes you can change your talents and fulfill another role. HOWEVER, up until level 60 or so, you don't really have to worry about being that spec when fulfilling that role. For example, you could have put all your points in retribution, but you will still be able to tank or heal an instance, just not as well as those specs would have. After 60, it becomes more necessary to be that spec to fulfill that role.

As stated, you can Respec by spending money. It's very easy to do. You don't want to do it all the time, you probably won't be switching daily, but once in-a-while - yeah - that's fine.

Please note: As with every class, you do not have to Spec something in order to do it. Spec'ing it just makes your better able to do it.

My Low 40s Paly healed a high 40s (Mara) instance while spec'd Ret. The same Paly tanked low 40s instances. (My Ret paly has never been invited to a group to DPS - ironically)

Prior to hitting lvl 50 instances (I'm thinking BRD here) you pretty much can do any job without spec'ing for it. Paly's can heal/tank/DPS... Shadow priests can heal an instance. Arms warriors can tank...

It really matters what spec you are using when you reach lvl 50+.... (There is some flexability with that statement. If you have great gear or great skill, that 50+ could become 55+ or even 60.) However - when you reach Outland at 60. You do need to spec for your role in 5man instances.
