Im sorry that this is prob a repetative topic, but Im wondering what makes arms the PVP tree. Is it just for second wind and MS? With a resto druid how much of a diff is there between fury and arms in a 2v2 arena team? Sorry if this is a dumb question, Im just missing whats so great about arms.

I'm not the warrior expert here but I have one at 65 atm so I'll put in my 2 cents =]

I've been both Fury and Arms but now I'm playing the prot side of the house. When I was Arms it was pure burst damage, big hits and crits. That's why it is preferred in arenas due to many other classes being dedicated for pure DPS. I've seen "ROFL plate rogues" around but very few. Fury is great for PVE from what I've read, for long fights and sustained DPS.

In short, Arms is for getting your opponent down as fast as possible with big hits while Fury is for steady DPS. I'm sure the experts around here can go further into detail but this is just what I know so far from my experience.

Also check the FAQ warrior sticky, RPZip explains all about the builds there.

Thanks. I looked harder at the sticky and found a bit more info. I was under the impression that arms gave you more "survival" and I was somehow missing it. But the burst dmg aspect of it makes sense.

mobility on the field. imp intercept is a must.

Arms= Big Dps Spikes unlike sustained constant dps in fury. Mortal Strike= Cut down on healing which is huge in pvp. Improved Intercept Stun helps you not get kited, same for Imp Hamstring if you get it. Second Wind helps with stuns which you will be getting a lot of in PvP.

I've never been outdone in raids or instances by an arms warrior but most of the time in PvP, me v arms, if they're geared he'll usually pop a MS crit ,Execute crit at the same time i have him in execute range and beat me. But thats about it. I've crit larger as fury than as arms as well. 7k execute as fury, 5k as arms. and as fury my AP is 2160+ unbuffed and last time i went all out buffs and all, because of fury buffs such as rampage, and imp. zerker stance i hit 4300+ AP. thats including totems, the whole nine yards

execute... is static damage, and it doesn't really make a huge difference what spec you are. Execute damage isn't modified by AP. Even with imp execute, that's only 5 more rage to dump into execute. That's 105 (231 with impale and a crit) extra base damage, and that's it...

2815 (6193 impale crit) should be the theoretical max your looking at before buffs, deathwish or enrage? Berserk buff from wsg? 25% buff to that is 7741 impale crit.

And that's before damage mitigation (anyone with armor... shadowform, etc...).
