How do you think they could improve pets?Follow

This is nothing but a fun thread, please try not to scream at people if you don't like their ideas. I just want to see what people think Blizzard could do to improve the pet system, purely for fun. It just seems like something amusing to do while I'm bored and I'm curious what sort of idea's people have. So toss them out and let's play with them a bit :) It could be fun...maybe?

1: Pet's could use some armor, even if it's just a single piece. Nothing godly or anything, but just something that might give your pet a slightly modified appearance and a minor stat boost. Could be fun to play with

2: I would actually kinda like to see pet's 100% normalized (all pets) with a slider to customize your pet completely. I think each pet race should have 1 or 2 unique powers, and that should be the only difference. That way you can pick a pet by their powers and appearance and not have to worry about dps, defense, balance. To balance out the fact that all pets would have the same stats, you would have to customize that setup. When you tame an animal, the slider I mentioned before would appear. You would be able to move it left and right, to a maximum of +10% and a minimum of -10% (moving it one way or the other either takes away points or adds points that you can use) so that you could choose to make your pet DPS, Tank or Balance.

You want a DPS pet but hate the ones we have now? Ok, go tame a wolf and slide the bars around. +10% DPS, +4% armor, -9% hp, or...something. I dunno how the point system would work. But you see my point I would think. Giving hunters even more flexability to deciding what kind of animal they want would be nice, at least to me. Then the only thing you have to worry about is the racial powers for a pet, instead of pouting that you can't have the pet species you want because it's basically useless. Might be nice to see something other than a Cat, Ravager or Wind Serpent for a change...

3: Rename feature. I don't care if it costs some gold, I think you should be able to rename your pets.

First and foremost I want another stable slot! They could make it 1000 G and I'd still buy it.

Next I want at least one unique skill per pet family type. Cats get prowl. Scorpids have poison sting. Snakes get poison spit, etc. There's a few families with nothing special about them.

Finally I want the pet families fixed. Each family should have a focus dump attack skill. Why Blizz even put sporebats in the game with their useless skill set mystifies me. The only nether rays outside of instances have caster stats? What the hell's wrong with Blizz's design team?

Eh, I don't like the idea of infinitely adjustable pet skills. It would make the trade-offs too easy and mean all pets were effectively identical. There'd be little point in having more than one pet.

Yes >_< I want more stable slots! How the heck did I not think of that when I pout everytime I look at the stable master o.O

More stable slots would probably be the best thing that they could bring to the hunter community. I personally wish hunters didn't have one less bag slot.

Yea, the bag slot is kind of annoying. On the other hand it does give us an attack speed boost. I'm not sure if I would be willing to trade the speed boost for a bag. I've never tried before, but is it even an option? Can you fire arrows out of a bag instead of a quiver?

You can, but you don't want to know how much your DPS would drop without that 15% haste.

Pet slot is a big one!

I'd like pet augments of some kind, like collars or hoods or something, make them like meta gems, having interesting effects.

I'd also like to see all families useful and maybe a few more special skills.

Omg. I love the idea of pet armor- even if it's completely useless aside from vanity. I want a bigass pink bow for all my pets.

I don't really care about the imbalance between the types of pets. My white windserpent is the prettiest pet EVER, and does a good 50-75 more DPS than my ravager. Buh-bye Molly. I'll miss you! (...But I won't.)

I really like the idea of the pet having unique abillities. Also in pve and in pvp.
Like some raids buffs or some anti-class buffs.
So in the future if someone is whine about ex. rogues we can reply:

"read the sticky!!!!!!!!!!!tame a wolf with smelling!( smelling a 20 yards abillity of wolfs to smell rogues and attack them first )

http://www.mmo-champion.com/index.php

Well, on MMO Champion, they just announced at the WWI that pets will no longer have trainable skills but have talent trees like characters do. This kinda takes away some of the flexibility but it could be the just the thing needed for adjustable stats on par with 100% normalization.

Andddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd... all pet species will have their own unique abilities :)

Its creepy...its like they're watching us O_O

* All kind of pets will have their own talent tree. A tanking talent tree, a DPS talent tree, and an utility talent tree. Each kind of pet family will have its own talent tree and its own unique ability.
* The shot clipping will be removed from Steady Shot, you'll be able to use it without "interrupting" your autoshot. Hunters will be able to just smash their button.
* There are going to be new pets in WotLK.
* The skill points for each pets are being changed to the new "Pet talents" and will disappear.

I wonder if we still still learn the base abilities from tamed beasts.

If not, then we will be able to use all 3 slots properly. It might not change, though.

Yay! Maybe pets will actually be able to tank now without actually being pure DPS. Dang...now I might actually have to pick between my pet doing tons of damage and me taking no damage XD

I wish my pet could feign death whenever I needed him to. He's been getting squished by level 72 elites that sneak up on me in Shadowmoon Valley. I feign death and lay there watching my loyal sidekick, who basically threw his body in front of a bullet for me, get smashed into a new fur coat for Mr. Elite dude.

Pet armor would be nice. A nice spiked collar (that actually shows on the pet).... maybe with some gem slots.

They are going to have the new scribe option to boost caster spells. Would it hurt so much to be able to make pets more effective without being overpowered?

Oh! Or a cat (puss) in boots armor. Now that would be awesome.

Also ... let's extend the pet families. Wotlk suggests another new cat, another wolf, (Hyena good, higher level boar, good). But what about higher level bears, or gorillas, or turtles?

(Or let us go back and get them without having a leveling and honor grind steep enough to make us want to shoot ourselves in the heads)

It seems like so many interesting looking pets got left behind in the TBC, and now with the (hopefully new) pet abilites options, who knows? A dps turtle might be fun.
