Is something wrong with loyalty?Follow

I just picked up one of the Skitter Ravagers and have been running around killing stuff for a while (were both level 61). It's been about 4 hours /played and it hasn't gone up even a single loyalty level yet. Any idea if something is wrong with those pets? Pettopia doesn't say they are glitched, and I've never had it take this long before.

[edit] Fixed a typo

The first loyalty level increase always feels like the slowest. Keep your pet happy and it'll eventually increase.

I know it always feels the slowest, but four hours? I've never had it happen before, not like this anyway. I'm still keeping it fed of course, staring at my pet, waiting...waiting...hehe. I'll keep at it. If I go another few hours though, I think something may be wrong. Just seems strange to have gone through 2 stacks of quail and nothing >_<

Are you fighting with that pet or just wandering around a city? Fighting passes the time more quickly and makes the wait seem less. Time where your pet is not out, like while mounted, does not count toward pet loyalty leveling time.

I've actually been out fighting. Since my first post though I'm just sitting in an inn, feeding my pet when needed, and reading a book. Reading always helps the time fly for me, so I'm hoping it helps. So far though, still nothing.

Have to keep fighting. 5% of your xp iirc.

Yep, 5% of your XP so make sure your fighting green/yellow mobs.

It;s actually 5% of your current XP level plus a period of time that increases for each loyalty level for 0 minutes (level 1 to 2) up to 90 minuted (level 5 to 6)

I once ran around with a pet that took nearly a day to gain a loyalty level with. It also took forever to gain the skill I wanted from it. Once I was ready to give up I gained both innate skills it had and the loyalty, but too bad I just used it.

Ravagers are great pets and one of the best for raiding, so stick with it.

I've always found that once you get past the first level in loyalty, the others happen quicker. Your pet will not gain loyalty sitting in an Inn feeding it. For some reason they don't gain like real animals. Fortunately, they don't get fat and lazy either.

Bottom line, you've just got to get out there and kill stuff that provides (or for 70s would provide) experience.

Good luck, and Happy Hunting

I have had my Pet gain Loyalty just sitting in Org doing banking and AH stuff. It's been a while and I don't recall what level it was at when it happened, but it has happened.
Other than that, my experiences are pretty similar to the other posters: The first Loyalty level takes a _long_ time. The second takes a long time, and the rest come pretty fast.

I am not sure but i think half the battle to gain loyalty is that the pet needs to level to gain it faster ?

Trying to get loyalty on a same level pet for me always takes ages , yet if pet is lower and it gains a level the loyalty seems to be gained a lot faster , I am not sure if that is correct but it seems to be that way for me.

so my advice is get out there and kill greens and gain a level at least.

many have tried to work out loyalty and nobody as far as i know has any real idea how it works as it seems to work on experience gained and on time as well , so a low level pet gains it far faster , around 3 hours to full loyalty for me when i gained a ghost sabre on my 23 hunter , yet higher level pets always take longer , it makes little difference anyway except for the amount of food they eat.

I'm guessing this happened because you had gained the 5% xp you needed, but hadn't had the pet out for long enough, and then while it Org the time you needed was met. It's happened to me once too.

Well apparently my pet was glitched, at least according to the GM. I had to uninstall the game and reinstall it. When I came back my pet was already loyalty level 5, but for some reason the game would not register it for me beforehand. At least my pet is back where it belongs now. Weird...

Really? OK, that's a first to my knowledge.
