Which pieces for Brutal Fel for Affliction?Follow

#1 Jun 25 2008 at 11:22 PM Rating: Default
I have an affliciton warlock(43/7/11) and would like to go 2/5 fel and 3/5 dread. I am not sure which pieces should be dread and which fel. I compared their stats and I think I will have fel: shoulders and helm. Is that the best way to go?
And also, I have another question. For the guardian gear, would subjugation be better than dominance for me?

Why would you want 3 pieces of dreadweave when your speced for affliction? And what do you mean by gaurdian gear? I would go 3 in fel and 2 in dread if i was affliction, and i would say have fel shoulders, robes and leggings... but, thats just me

Well the Fel gives a lot of crit and less of the most other stats. Why on earth would I want crit when the only spell I use which can crit is shadowburn?
And the Guardian gear is the S4 honor pieces (belt, wrist, necklace, etc).

*bump* again. And I don't see any reason for being rated down for bumping a post that didn't receive any answer in almost 48 hours.

I believe the gloves are part of the Felweave set you want to go for, for sure. As for the other piece, it's either the shoulders or helm that most go for when they get the double resilience bonus - that is entirely up to you.

This is if I remember correctly from WoW's lock forums, at any rate. >.>

Eh, I did some research myself after all and I came up with this:
-the pants and the chest are MUCH better as dread than fel
-the fel shoulders are the best, whatever the spec
So it was all fel helm vs fel gloves now. (7spelldemage + 2crit rating vs 6stamina +1intelect +2resilience, if I am not wrong).
They are about egual but I like moar spelldemage so I decided to take helm and shoulders as felweave.

Ah, then I had it backwards. :) I knew there was one piece that was worth it regardless of spec that was Felweave, just couldn't remember which one it was. :P At least I got which pieces it was right! (Helm, shoulders, gloves, that is)

:sigh: People on this site dont seem to PvP at all to give relevant advice. If youre going full affliction, you want 4/5 Dread, 1 Fel. s4 has more than enough resilience. The fel helm has more spell damage, and the dread doesnt really make up for it with the +stam and intellect. The fear bonus will help you tons. Most of everyone is gemming spell dmg, with possibly a 10 resil gem thrown on bracers and neck.

As for guardian gear, the spell haste weapon isnt going to be released, and even if it was, most of the PvP community agrees that it would be worthless anyway since they nerfed the GCD's and Weapon swapping. Go with dominance.

Grazzk. Some people want the double resilience bonus. That means 2/5 and 3/5. Affliction goes with 3/5 Dreadweave, 2/5 Felweave.

Wingsofscion, I understand some people want the double resil bonus, but check this out...

1. If your going for 3/2 set, you go 3 dreadweave, 2 felweave, not the other way around as some are suggesting.

2. You can hit the resil bonus extremely easily, and maintain the same spell dmg, if not more with the 4 set bonus. Most intelligent PvPers will go with Fel helm, and the rest dread, while gemming all spell dmg, except in chest, where they put one +12 spell dmg gem, and the other 2 +10resil gem. It's much more effective, and the fear bonus is crucial to stay competetive.

...You do realize that's exactly what I said, right?

Though, it is also dependent on battlegroup and whether you get focus fired. Most people tend to go for the extra resil when they get focus fired, and the 0.2s off Fear when not. The problem with Affliction is that it is more reliant on actually being able to survive, so resilience usually matters a bit more. This is as opposed to a Destruction spec, where every arena Destro lock I have spoken to says 5/5 full Felweave, regardless, because you just need long enough to nuke the crap out of someone.
