I was wondering if anyone has or can put together a short primer on stats for warriors? I am looking to improve my Warrior's stats, but not sure what their order of importance is, how they interact, and what stat does what. I've seen the post regarding Gear for Kara, and what the minimum stats needed are. My question is how do I get my stats to that level? Is it a matter of just upgrading gear? As a Tank what stats should be my focus when getting new gear (ex. Defense vs. Hit Rating) ?
As a former Arms Warrior, now Tank, what should my focus be in regards to the following and how can I improve these stats?
-Health (currently 10,244)
-Defense Rating (420)
-Avoidance (Parry + Dodge) [13.6% (19) & 10.25% (17)]
-Armor (11,983)
-Stamina (598)
-Strength (362)
-Agility (174)
-Hit Rating (33)
-Expertise Rating (19)
-Attack Power (1050)
-Block Value (12.8%)
-Critical Chance Rating (15.04%)

most of the gear lists for pre-kara tell you where to get them. as you get the gear, your stats will improve of course.
the shield is easy - S2 shield takes no time to earn, and soon you can get the SSO shield as well. forget the other pre-kara shields; those two will last for a while. the S2 shield also lowers your required defense from 490 to about 472, which is very nice when you're first gearing up.
focus on getting your defense up to 490 (raids) or 485 (heroics) first. get your HP & armor > 12k, then dodge + parry about 30%.
once you get there, you can focus on threat stats like expertise, hit rating and block value - along with continually increasing your effective health (HP & armor) and avoidance (def, dodge, parry).

The first thing you want to do is to max your defense or acquire some gladiator gear (the shields are the best pre-t6 you can get) to become uncrittable. Once you're uncrittable you can do some heroics although I'd just go straight to Kara myself. Most of Kara is easier than heroics with much better gear as well (with the exception of Magister's Terrace which has amazing loot).
One thing that worries me about your gear though is how low your hp is. Ideally you should have ~12k hp when you start raiding/doing heroics because mobs hit HARD. Try to socket only for stam and to get hp/stam increasing enchants. Eventually, as the quality of your gear increases, you should be able to resocket/carry a second set of gear for threat. For right now, however, I would recommend focusing on hp and maxing your defense.
