Ideas for leveling buildsFollow

I'm just curious if anyone has good ideas for leveling builds for my hunter. He's level 31 right now and I just want to know what some good builds are for leveling. I've heard BM builds are pretty good for leveling.

To answer your question thru my experiences (altho it is in the sticky) I went BM/MM hybrid til I got to the level where I could get intimidation (for got the level). Once I got there I respecced to full BM and realized what I was missing. So when I started on a PvP server I just went straight BM from the start and was glad I did. Now that being said I have never started leveling with a MM or SV spec alone, and now, altho I could respec to them if needed, I could never not go BM.

The answer is pick a tree , BM is about the best all round and the most talked about , See the sticky and several other threads saying which talents to use , it is your choice as each tree has its advantages and you may want to be different ?

Personally i have tried all 3 and to me BM is the only way to level and sure is faster than the others for me.

Basic talent choices are fairly easy to work out anyway , if BM go for as many high damage talents as you can work out , plus improved mend pet as i find that does help me,

Depends on the kind of playstyle you want to have but nothing beats a well geared, well played BM Hunter for fast easy grinding. It's probably the easiest thing in the game to do... Mark, send pet, hit it with serpent sting and then just auto/arcane rotation til dead. I am talking as someone who played as a BM Hunter from lvl 10 to 70 so my opinion will be a little biased, but still... BM is the best damage build, best grinding/ leveling build and the best raid DPS build end-game. Once you hit end-game you can choose between BM or SV for raiding builds, but MM only really has a place in PvP anymore along with SV and BM but most higher ranked (1800+) Hunters play as MM as far as I know.

Anyway I digress, BM for damage and leveling.... once you get to end-game pick your own spec, just make sure it's one of the cookie cutter builds as everything else just can't compete with them,
#6REDACTED, Posted: Jun 26 2008 at 2:55 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Is it possible that he might of been asking your opinions? No reason to down someone for not reading a sticky. Although, the sticky may be right about BM being the best solo build. What is wrong with asking peoples opinion on what build they prefer? I can remember the first time I came to this forum. I had no clue where these stickies are or what the heck a sticky was. Not everybody is forum savvy like you Yuppley. Although, looking at several of your post throughout the forum, it doesn't look like you are here to help too much, just down people. Whatever works for you.

As has already been mentioned suggested beastmastery skills are shown in the sticky. If you want a level by level explanation of where to put your points, see BRK's guide here:

Just to beat the point home, Beast Master hunter is the best way to level in the game. The only competition that even comes close as far as I can see is an Affliction Warlock. Just make sure you group sometimes so you remember that other people do exist, it's very easy to forget that you'll someday need some experience in teamplay when you have a Beast Master.

Thanks for the help. I'll probably use a BM/MM hybrid because I like to do a lot of DPS myself.

I'm doing 41/20/0. Look in the stickie on last post. That is the settup I'm using. Standard raid build according to everyone and great soloability. Level 42 and climbing with it. :D But yeah the stickie is very very helpful

Just a quick note on hunter thinking:

YOUR PET'S DPS IS YOUR DPS. Think of it as a Damage over Time spell if you have to. Also more DPS from your pet = more threat generated by pet = harder to pull aggro from pet = more DPS for you because hunter melee DPS sucks.

Good luck with leveling it is a blast.

First BM to Intimidation (21 point talent)

Then MM thru Mortal Shots (20 points)

Then back to BM for 41/20/0

Put your first 21 points in Pet buff/rez/heal talents.

I don't agree Nobic, I'd go all the way through the Beast Within first or at least through Serpents Swiftness before going over to the MM side. Mortal shots won't start doing you good until you get a decent crit chance and at level 50, you just won't have the crit to make it worth waiting on the other BM talents.

I agree with this. BW with the Devisaur tooth helped me alot when i got alot of adds, all of these little things for my pet to hold against a couple mobs and pull the hate away fast especially if FD was on CD.
Plus BW for when ur fighting those red mobs in Ungoro crater was awesome too.

I agree with zebug. I filled my BM tree and I am currently working on mm tree with 3 points into lethal shots. My pet is a beast and can dish it out and take it. I love hunter. To hell with what other people say about hunters.

Generally it is better to build one tree or the other first.

Maybe it is my play style. I seldom use Bestial Wrath but rely on Intimidation as an attention getter. (what is it? Also stuns target for 3 sec.)

The hunter I am fooling around with now is lvl 38 and I have 12% crit and (hopefully) will have a lot more by lvl 50.

Mortal Shots is a favorite of mine.

This is basically the spec I work toward. Take it for what it is worth.

Playstyle has a lot to do with it as do many other factors (like cost to respec).

If you are in to the game 'experience' then speed of levelling is probably not paramount and you can be anything. I did MM 1-70 as a casual player. I was enjoying the game and the storyline.

If you want fastest levelling, go BM and be BM. All hunters need to learn pet control early, but with BM it has a higher impact on your dps when you are improperly using your pet. If your pet dies in a fight, it will cost you dps, which is true for any hunter, but the impact is higher on BM hunters. Your pet is your buddy and you need to work as a team.

I've found that a big advantage is that the mobs stay on my pet far longer as BM than they ever did as MM. Intimidate is great! I do miss some of the utility 'shots' that MM has though... however, for now, BM rules the damage roost.
