With 75k honor in the bank, is there any gear before kara as good as s2 for dps? I know what I need for tanking but havent paid much attention to my feline side.
That includes the maul, since I'll keep my s1 headpiece for a while since I spent so much gemming it, I'll have some spare honor to spend on a weapon, and I doubt there's anything out there as good. I hope I'm wrong, it seems ridiculous to use PvP gear for PvE this much, but it certainly seems like there's no reason to do the quest for these http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=31544;source=live when I can just buy these http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=31969;source=live.

Edit: To answer your question, those pants are better than the skirt you get from the quest. Wouldn't bother with the skirt unless you have issues with your hit rating. And even then.

Please "talk up" if your comprehension white-shifts. I will use simple-happy language-words to help you understand.
The clefthoof hide leggings are better than the S2 pants with the expertise and hit rating. With the exception of the S1/S2 shoulders, PvP gear is less than ideal for cat DPS. Helm of the Claw (quest blue) beats Merciless Dragonhide Helm. Shadowprowler's Chestguard (BoE crafted) and Primalstrike Vest (BoP crafted) beat out Merciless Dragonhide tunic. Gloves of the Unbound (blue drop in Arc) beat Merciless Dragonhide gloves. You might look at the non-set S3 pieces (Vindicator's) and the non-set S4 pieces if you have the arena rating for them.

The wrists make for extremely good dps gear up into T5 content. Outside of that, most of the gear has better options through badge/heroics, as well as some crafted items.
I don't arena. And I'm sure I can upgrade once I have kara on farm. But until then they look pretty good, which is a shame -- I'd rather PvE for my PvE gear. I'll check AH and hope for the right drops but I checked Emmerald's dps list last night and much of the s2 beat out quest rewards are drops from normal instances. Thanks for the pointers above, I'll look for that stuff.
One final question, what is hit cap for cat again? 145?

142, but gem for Agi, the ap and crit from that beats an equal amount of hit. Also, it's my understanding the S3 honor gear is sticking around when the S4 piece has an arena rep requirement.
