Spellfire Set..Follow

#1 Jun 25 2008 at 12:25 AM Rating: Decent
hello, i am going to get the spell fire set since i want to start raiding again. The problem is, the set doesn't give as much +int, so do i need to put +int gems to make up for it or should i just put +dmg gems into the slots? Another thing is, is getting the whole set worth the price since it costs around 3000 gold to make? I have read somewhere that the se is a MUST to get, why is this though?

Help would be appreciated

In terms of gems for raiding you want to go for the +Hit ones until you're capped (164 with EP for Fire mages) then go for +DMG then +Crit in that order. I wouldnt worry about Haste too much at this moment as that only comes into play when you're raiding end game content and have at least +1000 in bonus Damage to make it worth your while.

+Int isnt of much value for raiding except in special circumstances when you get to endgame content where boss fights take a long time and you've started to stack +Haste.

For the spellfire set, get it, its the best crafting gear you can get and is equivilent to T4/T5 gear. you wont be replacing it for long until you reach this level of raiding. To compliment the spellfire set go get the Spellstrike set too and you're be all set for raiding and wont need to worry about replacing any gear for quite some time.

It is very costly to make (assuming you don't farm your own primals and then of course have tailoring high enough to make the pieces themselves. The spellstrike pieces cost about 1K a piece to make as well. If you have the money to spend (5k+ gold) and don't already have an epic flier, get that first (imo), and then save up/make money to make the pieces. If you are fire don't grind primal fires, grind a different one and then sell/trade for the fires or just do dailies and buy them.

I would not worry about Int/Stam gemming as ssgrif mentioned, just make sure to keep an extra stam set (or hell a pvp set) for just incase you need one momenets (later on you will). As ssgrif said gem/enchant for damage and hit (up to 164 with elemental precision).

The fact that I’m stupid has finally started to help me.

I mistakenly joined a realm (that was recommended – don’t even get me on that subject) that is severely under-populated. The mistake was that I’m in NJ and the realm is for PST.

While this sucks for AH (under population = nothing at AH) and 5mans (PST means midnight for me is 9pm server time), it’s awesome for farming.

I’m also working on this set and have found the cool downs to be the biggest issue – not the mats. I play on a very under-populated realm – there might be 1 other person on the Elemental Plateau. I’ve also had good success picking up Motes of Fire in Shadowmoon Valley.

The other day – I woke up early cause a delivery truck was outside the house – couldn’t get back to sleep. So I logged on and picked up 11 Motes in just about 20 minutes. No one bothered me – No one was there to bother me.
