I'm currently 18/0/43 specced and will remain this way till we get to Illidan (4/5 and 7/9), but I'm wondering about the whole council fight. Archie is our current target for progression, but the illidari council awaits just around the corner. I was asked to tank Nethermancer Zerevor and read a little on the fight. What I'm trying to figure out is this: does arcane resist work against him? I was tanking krosh firehand and know his fireballs can't be resisted, but what about this guy? I have yet to read anything about resistance, everyone only mentions HPs.

Does anyone know if it works?

I don't believe that arcane resist works, at least i have never read that. Just try to get as much HP as you can while being arcane hit capped. Bring nightmare seeds and make sure you get a BoP before heading in.

Don't worry about arcane resist, just make sure you have as much health as you can get and keep arcane hit as high as you can for initial spellsteal. The dampen magic you steal reduces magic taken by 75% so you are easily healed by one good healer and are actually the safest person in the room as the reduce magic damage also works on the flamestrike and blizzard if you get hit by it, as well as the priest random target spell. The dampen magic buff lasts 2 minutes, but he recasts it at the one minute mark so you should never not have the buff on, steal it as soon as he puts it up to renew your timer. It a long boring fight for you so dont lose focus and will be fine. Also take invisible and iceblock off your action bars (see my other post about worst screwups) =).

As the (bored) Zerevor tank, it also usually makes sense to help with counterspelling the Priest. It's still a pretty simple job, though.

Actually thats a great point. I set focus on priest with a counterspell focus macro and throw it every time i see melee shield is up and she starts a circle of healing.

That is pretty much what my guild does (I am not the tank, we have a more experienced one doing it previously from an Illidan guild) and myself and two other mages have it on focus (with messages in our mage channel when used) and have an ele shammy also on just incase one of us dies we have a backup.

I'm one of 2 mages that tank, depending on who's on. I agree with everyone else, definitely the most boring fight in there. Arcane hit cap + stam gear + focus counterspell macro = win.

I just tanked it last night (to about 50%) -- then a Tornado warning came and it was getting really bad outside... had to tell the guild that I had to go because there was a Tornado spotted 5 mins from my apartment. Good times, wiped the raid and the raid also had to stop.
