My story: I am currently specced shadow at level 61. I love it, but also enjoy trying out different specs as well as healing. I was planning on trying out Discipline at 70 with a few of the Rep PVP pieces to try some battleground healing. But now I'm thinking I may respec early so I can heal 5-mans on my way up as well. Since as yet my eq isn't particularly specialized - my spell dmg and healing are the same right now, and I've been stacking spirit all along anyway - I thought it might be a good time to make the switch for fun and try it out.

Why I'm bugging you with it: Soooo I'd need a build that would be good for soloing but also viable for healing 5-mans through my 60's, and I especially like the idea of Reflective Shield, which I hear is funfun. I checked out the build info in the Wiki here as well as WoWWiki, but I know we've got some experienced Disc priests here and wondered if any of y'all would be willing to post your build and/or recommendations? I'd surely appreciate it.

I am also new to disc/holy also. I have been playing it for about 2 weeks now and have had a blast in bg and arena

Keep in mind my build is for pvp, One great thing about reflective shield is that it really can do a ton of damage.

For myself i am a troll priest so when i get attacked by anything i will have reflective shield and shadow guard doing damage to the attacker. both of these can actually do a decent ammount of damage. i have killed rouges before they even got any damage off on me.

so far its definatly fun fun fun

Thanks for the link! Nobody in any of the builds I've seen seems to be taking Force of Will, and I see you've left it off as well. Is the 5% not worth the 5 points?

Well, it's about a 7.5% DPS increase for 5/5 Force of Will. It's nice, but hardly necessary. I took it for leveling but it's useless for healing.

Reflective Shield is a very fun spell and surprisingly efficient for leveling purposes. It's still important to get 10 points in Holy; Healing Specialization, Improved Renew, and cast time reductions are all great talents. After that, feel free to put the rest in Discipline. That's what I did and I had a lot of fun leveling. Your healing ability comes, not from power, but from the ability to avoid running out of mana, and it should be more than sufficient for lower-level instances.

Thanks for your input and rate up for you. :)

I went ahead and respecced. The build looks ridiculous since I picked up both Spirit Tap and Wand Spec, but I still solo most of the time and need to keep questing efficiently. I took Improved Renew, Healing Focus, and Divine Fury to boost healing and all the rest in Discipline. Hopefully that'll keep me soloing well but also let me handle regular 5-mans. I'm not worrying about PVP talents yet as I'm not intending to do any before I hit 70.

Thanks to Improved Divine Spirit I have more spell dmg and healing than I had before, and I seem to be more efficient with single targets. Multiple targets I do much worse with than I did as Shadow, but no doubt it's because I don't have the hang of it yet.

Currently I am PvPing and healing in instances (while I mostly heal in bgs, I can dish out some damage as well)

Here is my spec, it's kind of weird, but is suiting me fine atm:

Not fully disc though. I'd like to call it 'steady'. All my disc points are more stat boosters (and some buffs that are plainly fun like Power Infusion), while the bit I have in holy enhance my healing capabilities. While it's fine like this, at 80 I can pick spiritual healing, holy concentration and some points in silent resolve, making my healing a lot easier.

Short, shameful confession: I went back to Shadow. It's not that leveling as Disc/Holy was bad, exactly, I just... really missed the dark side.

Well it's useful info, I'm trying to work out a disc/holy build for battleground healing, only got into it recently to get the PVP trinket for MH. So far been going in with CoH PVE spec and PVE gear... survival seems to be all about how quick the opposition are in noticing me standing at the back there healing, and even if they do notice I'll hold out for as long as I can but in the end at least spirit of redemption has saved a few battles!

The gear has got me confused too. Do I stick with my PVE gear or go buy all these rep PVP pieces? I've got T5 helm and shoulders, T6 gloves and badge robe and legs.
