99% of the good players in this game are either Rival and above in arena, or are in T6.

Which is it for you?

Allow me to offer an additional perspective to this point. What Theo said is a personal thing to me, seeing as how I started WoW at the start of my military career. If anyone in here knows anything about the military lifestyle, you will be aware that lots of extinuating circumstances arise frequently. As i type this, im sitting on a ship somewhere in Persian Sea area. I haven't played WoW for almost 5 months... for those few of us in the military, WoW is a welcome break from the sh*t we have to deal with on a day to day basis, so when i go on deployments, it depresses me because i can't play with my friends and family.

Though having a good rating and being in t6 speaks volumes for your skill, nothing - not even in WoW - is in black and white. I can't have a dedicated time to be raiding since my schedule is at the mercy of the government. And as far as arena goes, finding a good partner or 2 is very hard to find. And again, my schedule and infrequent play time prevents a lot of progression there. My nomadic lifestyle prevents me from gearing up as much as other players. But do I think I suck because I'm not rocking T6 or full venge or w/e? No I don't. I usually dont think players are great or suck unless i can see them play firsthand. Gear doesn't always tell the tale... but talent specs do as they are reflection on your knowledge and efficiency of your own class.

But I get kind of offended by comments that say you're not good unless you're rival or t6 geared. The ultimate say so is how that player plays. Though sticking to the OP- Mutilate is fun, decent at pvp, decent at pve but it is not optimum for either. It's plain as day... but in the end you pick which style you want to play. If you're not looking to soar to great heights in either pvp or pve, then mutilate is fine. If you're truly good, you can make anything be good.

I'm in the military as well, although I am on shore duty. Judging by you response you must be in the navy as well. Even though I am on shore duty there are alot of things that still stop me from playing as much as most people do. In Theo's defense he said 99%. I feel like in this scenario I am a part of that 1%. Mainly because I haven't put the time in arenas nor raiding recently to have my rogue in either t6/s3/4. I have taken a mage to rival and a druid to gladiator in the past, and now I am working on my rogue. I have destroyed many rogues that outgear me in arenas and in bgs. Mainly, I think it is because I read these forums and study the class. The other part is because it seems like most people roll a rogue thinking it is automatically a win 1v1 like it was pre-bc. I feel its more of the quality of time you put into playing your character and really getting into how to play it to learn the best ways to fight each class than the quantity of time you play the game. Good Luck overseas, I know I feel your pay personally from doing a 6 1/2 month ship deployment and a 9 month land deployment to Iraq.
