demo dps at 70 possible?Follow

hey guys im just looking for any tips or advice about a couple of builds i wanna try out.. and since its maintenence night i cant do them right away lol...

anyways at the moment ive been trying a 0/21/40 fire build... im not hit capped.. i have about 111 hit and nearly 18% crit.. and about 900 spell dmg.. so i dont really meet the basic requirements most people say u need for these destro builds.. but im doing pretty awesome dmg as it is.. ive been coming in the top 3 dps in kara the last couple of weeks and i came in third in gruuls last week and there are alot of people better geared than me below me on the dps charts. basically all i do is sacrifice felhunter so i dont really have mana problems.. cast CoE immolate then incinerate till the last tick of immolate then conflag. then repeat.

but my question is... is it possible to go demo dps in heroics and raids. i guess there are 3 options im looking at... going ful guard, imp or succy build.

succy build

im thinking this would be the best build to try because its alot more heroic friendly

imp
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?tal=0000000000000000000000352030123250103501350505020500000000000000
i can see the imp running out of mana way too much with this build

felguard
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?tal=0000000000000000000000052030133250103531351505000500000000000000
not sure whether its worth while picking up a dmg skill like 3 points into corruption instead of demo resilence.

basically im picking up mana feed so that when i life tap i can get my pet going again. does anyone have any experiance with raiding or doing dps with their pets? id love some comments or even a.... STFU NUB WE ARENT HUNTARDS!! :P

Yes, it is very possible, however, it is highly recommended that you have the 2pcT5 and Void Star Talisman. They both work before that, though with the Succy, keeping her alive can be difficult. On many fights you do not even have her attack, just park her our of the way, since you get the bonuses Master Demonologist, Soul Link and Demonic Tactics.

Felguard basically works the same way, but you don't get as much damage from Master Demo with him, and lose the ability to get Ruin. His damage can make up for that though. If he stays alive. Again, 2pcT5 and oid Star Talisman help this immensely.

Really, if you want to know how to do the most DPS with your gear and build, google Warlock DPS Spreadsheet, it's Leleuers or something like that, download, plug in your gear, then plug in different talent builds and such.

Ok, I'm first gonna start off commenting on your destro rotation. I strongly disagree with most locks choosing fire over shadow but that's another story and I won't go into it. As for your rotation and choice of pet sac, you are doing it all wrong. You should be saccing your imp for the 15% increase on fire damage not your felhunter. The imp will increase your damage by 15% since all of your damage is fire (which is ALOT) while your felhunter is just giving a little mana back to a class with relatively infinite mana.

On conflag, it is just a waste of dps. A fire locks dps comes from incinerate, immolate is just there to keep its dps higher. You want to get back into incerate as fast as possible. In the time it takes for the global CD to finish on conflag, you could have cast another immolate and gotten into the incinerate rotation even faster. Instead you have to waste yet another 1.5 secs to redo immolate.

Telling us your dps spot on runs does not do us much good either. Since the rest of your raid could just be trash and seeing from your choice of pet sac, rotation, and gear, they probably are.

Now for the demo build. Yes demo dps is possible at 70 but it isn't a chart. Now all demo dps builds will all spec into felguard. Succy is just WAY to squishy and it's only use is seduction. Imp...even squishier. The only problem with demo is you have to control you pet to make sure it doesn't die. The T5 2 set bonus helps a lot with this. I would go with a build that looks something like this:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?tal=0000000000000000000002050030133250101531351505000500200000000000

I switched the points from imp health funnel to imp HS since the only time you will be using health funnel is in between fights. I took two points out of mana feed and put them into destructive reach which is VERY helpful for a lot of fights. Mana feed does not need to be maxed out since your pets mana pool is much smaller than yours and 33% is more than enough to keep your pet from going oom.

For a "succy" build, it is not REALLY a demo build as your rotation turns into a destro rotation, the talent set up is just a stat booster and the succys only use is to stand by you and look pretty (while boosting stats of course). This build would look something like this:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?tal=0000000000000000000002050030133250100511350505000512200010000000

thanks for the spreadsheet link... ill have to play around with it to understand and get it working abit better but i can see it coming in handy :)

i think felguard is looking like the best way to go especially for raiding cause yea as both of you said the succy is probably too squishy.

and as far as my fire rotation goes i was just going with wat i felt like i should be doing. i had it in my head that conflag was better dmg than the last tick of immolate.. but your point of the global cooldown is something i didnt think of. as for picking fire in the first place.. i mainly do heroics and kara.. and im aware that shadow is better for overall group dps but i was shooting for more personal dps for a bit of fun. when i get more into the 25 mans ill take the group more into consideration. about saccing the felhunter instead of the imp. i was shadow destro for abit before i went fire and i was saccing my succy. it was such a mana drain and i was life tapping constantly and i felt like i was being a drain on the healers. (i dont know how much its expected of healers to heal us locks with life tapping in raids so i feel guilty lol) at least with the mana regen of the fel hunter i barely life tap anymore so i figured that would up my dps by dpsing through the times u was usually sitting life tapping.

but anyways. im not really in a position to get any of the t5 gear yet. but ill give the felguard spec a go for now. hopefully ill get the hang of using him in fights. especially with not gettin him killed every 5 seconds. and yea thanks for the mana feed info cause i wasnt sure how much id really need.

thanks for the comments :)

I sac my felhunter all the time. I never really liked the locks who would life tap to no health after every pull, let the healers heal em, then dance around while the healers drank. That always kinda bugged me, even though almost every healer I've run with is cool with healing after life taps. So for grinding, 5-mans, and T4 trash (never been to T5) I have the felhunter sacced just to keep moving along without having to ever worry about mana. This also helps as I usually do pugs and it's keeps my damage output lower which is nice cause I have that stupid crit at the wrong time pulls agro problem on trash.

On raid bosses however I will always switch and sac my succubus(or imp in your situation) for the 15% damage increase. Unless of course the tank has low hp or is really slow on gaining threat then I'll just kep the imp out.

During a fight, it is acceptable to Life Tap your mana up and expect a heal, what I will normally do when I get below 30% or so mana, instead of just life-tapping to full is start alternating Life-Tap and SB. If after the first two I do not get a heal, pop a HS or Health Pot. If I get a HoT, I Life Tap to full mana. This keeps my Life from getting into the one-shot range, but keeps me at a reasonable mana level.

After a fight is a completely different story, I never expect heals at this point, and what I normally do is Life Tap so that eating a Mana Biscuit will get me full on Health and Mana at approximately the same time. I usually get heals anyway, sometimes I'll keep Tapping, sometimes I won't.

This is all in a raid scenario of course, in 5-mans, don't expect heals for Tapping, ever. Use your HS or a Pot if you can, or Tap and Drain Life so you are still causing damage.
