That's only because I am required by Imperial Law to overthrow all domination that is not by the Space Monkey Empire. If I didn't I'd risk my Ruling Warlord status and that would not be acceptable. Sorry about that Xsarus...

We'll send you some bananas.

This thread has been needed here for a long time (of course, I never thought of it) When levelling my druid recently, I was pleased at how helpful and welcoming that part of the community is, and simultaneously disappointed with the Alla Hunter community in comparison.

Yes we get a lot of frankly stupid questions, but are people really so into being cyber-bullies/have such low self-esteem in RL that they have to respond the way they do? How about not responding at all. If the question is that stupid it's not worth your time surely? Just leave it alone.

The genuine posts asking for advice just seem to get caught up in the crossfire, and it basically leaves this forum looking like it belongs in the o-boards.

Good post, rate up.

If people annoy you, DON'T RESPOND. Someone who isn't annoyed easily will come along eventually, or possibly no one will respond and the offending OP will get the hint and either move along or rephrase their question. If they don't get the hint, well, don't read their threads.

I disagree with the latter part of your comment, Herbnosis. Ignoring the problem seldom makes it go away and, instead, often enhances it.

If we were to ignore anyone that we felt was slightly annoying, the attitude would take a turn down the snobbish road. People would think that we were ignoring them simply because they weren't "in" which, more or less, would be true.

Instead of ignoring people, rather help them improve themselves. Help others help themselves. Of course, there are different ways of approaching that philosophy and I agree wholeheartedly that flaming people isn't helping anyone except perhaps the guy flaming, because he gets to blow some steam.

Allow me to give an example. Someone writes the following in a thread in this forum:

hai ther i wud liek to no if u cna tame a pet or two 4 maby dps n tank plz help

The tendency has been to reply in the following manner:

Jesus Christ Almighty! Please hit yourself a couple of times in the face with a dictionary and try that again, because all I could read was FAIL! Ratedown!

Which is a not-so polite way of saying:

Hi there and welcome to the Allakhazam forums. I noticed that this is your first post so I'm guessing you're rather new here. I had some difficulties deciphering your post. Could you perhaps rephrase the question in plain English? Makes it a lot easier for us to understand your question and thereby help you.

From what I gathered, though, you're asking if you can tame and keep more than one pet. Is this correct? If so then yes, you can. Visit a Stable Master, usually located near inns (where the mailbox is) or banks. There you can buy stable slots to store your pets in.

I recommend getting a <race> or <race> for DPS and a <race> for tanking, but that's entirely up to you, of course.

Both examples are a little exaggerated, though. There's no need to write out a dozen pages of polite phrases before getting to the point, but hopefully you know what I mean by this. The first response's total value in relation to the question asked is zero, or close to zero. The only vague attempt at helping is where the person is told to use a dictionary (albeit in the wrong way) and rephrase the question. The second response is a polite way of helping someone. You can smack a "it's in the FAQ" somewhere in there without upsetting anyone as well, but since this is a (hopefully) live community, repeating what has already been written in the FAQ doesn't hurt anyone. If you're going to write "Read the FAQ," adding "But this is how it's done.." doesn't take all that much more time.

And besides, why the sudden rush? Need to be somewhere after helping out? Okay, then save the response for when you have better time. It's not a competition (unless you're into the whole game card contest thing) so quantity doesn't trump quality (unless you're into the game card contest thing).

Maybe I'm just rambling, though.

Yes it is about time! I am new here to a point and I have been reading the posts for a long time and have responded to some. Yes some people post very dumb questions that could be the answered by a few seconds of reading the posts before them or the stickies. Then there are the ones that makes you go WTF!? But a lot of the time people who are new to the game and do not have a clue, post here to try to fine out information to help them and the get slammed or called dumb@ss, ******, huntard and this makes the poster feel bad and most likely never return to this site. This site like most internet sites require people to come and use the resources, and pay the fees or click on their ads so the inet company like Allakhazam can stay in business. Start to scare the peeps away and the business will start to fail. I am not sure what the average age of the posters here are, but it reminds me sometimes of back in school when if you were not one of the cool kids, then you got snit on and could not have fun with the "in group" just because you were not as smart as they were or cause you did not have the latest cool gear.

i dont help people who dont help themselves.
i dont do things for people.
i simply give advice.

i dont particularly flame but i think a lot of these people that cant even take the time to make their posts somewhat legible, what with the backspace key and all, dont deserve to get good answers back.
i think some of the flaming is a little excessive at times, but again if you cant take a hit on an anonymous internet message board, how do you get through day to day life?

no offense to anyone, but i dont sit down and baby people because they need to try to learn on their own.
