flurry is a flat increase to your attack speed. for shaman, its +30% attack speed, which basically equates to +30% white dps.

as far as WF goes, think of flurry as a guard against windfury droughts. the faster youre attacking the more likely it is youll get a WF proc as soon as its possible to get one.

Honestly, people need to stop worrying about the "WF deadzone".

It has been mathematically shown that with +haste gear now available via badge gear that all missed or OH WF procs get more than made up for by constant and consistent white damage. Even if your attack speed goes sub 1.4/1.4 which used to be a huge no-no.

Flurries are good. I like the ones with chocolate chip cookie dough.

I play a resto shaman and really had no clue what flurry was - So i decided to look at this board to get a better idea on what exactly flurry is!

Im still confused... I assume its a good thing though. I will never go enhancement, I have almost a full epic elemental set, so its really no big deal or anything.

Not quite, no. No class has a 30% flat increase to attack speed, that'd be insanity. BM Hunters get that juicy 20% for 5 talents, but it just replaces all the AP talents they cant take.

Flurry gives you a 30% increase to attack speed for THREE swings after a crit, which includes your oh-so-weak offhand swings. So, you land a crit, and you start attacking faster for a brief period.

Now as Im sure someone is about to point out, once you get to 30% crit then Flurry is generally up all the time, at which point it is a flat 30% increase, but to call it that right out of the box is a bit misleading. You have to do a fair bit of work to get 30%+ crit chance as a Shaman, it isnt something that just falls into your lap with only 5% crit available from talents.

As for the WF deadzone, it is a bit troublesome actually, but Flurry is still totally worth the points. Im not sure how a lack of procs of a special ability can be 'made up for' by white DPS, since the two are independent; more white DPS doesnt eliminate the impact of less WF. Were WF deadzone-free, haste rating would be the number-one asset to a Shaman as it'd increase WF procrate at the same time as white hits. I'd like to see the cooldown reduced to 2 seconds to accommodate sub-2.0 Shamans, but I dont think it's gonna happen.

at 20% crit it is up almost all the time its not really hard to make it almost a permanent buff but sometimes you are a little bit unlucky.

To be honest, it might seem like it but it really isnt. 'Almost All' works out at around 70%, that increases rapidly to 100% as you approach 30% crit but until then the effectiveness is curtailed. Stormstrike does help, but not an enormous amount.

just see it this way:

the more constant and often you attack, the more often WF and all the other nice and shining things
(and there are a LOT of them) will proc !

You will LOVE flurry, you will WANT flurry...believe me ;-)

And to throw in a little bit of the complex maths:
With WF on each weapon, your chance to proc WF will be about 36% and WF has a 3 sec. cooldown.
More attacks = more chances do hit the 36%
More attacks = more chances to hit WF after it comes out of the hidden cooldown

Maybe confusing at first sight, but makes perfectly sence if you think it through ;-)

Go check out the Enhancement theorycrafting at Elitistjerks, they explain it much better than my simplification but basically, one HUGE damage attack = to many smaller damaging attacks, the white damage additions due to haste make up for the % of missed WF procs off the main hand, where as if you just center all of your gear around that 3 sec hidden cooldown, you are actually hurting your dps.
