Can you help me with a pet macro?Follow

I've looked back a few pages, lots of stuff on Macro...just not what I needed, and the FAQ only seems to cover shot rotations. I'm trying to make a macro (or even better, a keybind but I have NO idea how to do either) that will make my pet attack my target and use dash, either with 2 clicks or (preferably) one click to use both at the same time. I just can't wrap my head around all this stuff, 0 experience in the area doesn't help of course.

Anybody know how to do this? ^^;

/petattack

And then leave Dash on Auto. Or in simpleton terms, click the dash icon til the border flashes and rotates indicating auto-cast.

Of course, I'm assuming you have Dash learned and trained and it appears on your pet bar (its a greenish icon).

/petattack
/cast dash

is exactly what you want i think.
If it doesnt work, i'll have to check wich command it was to click the petbar buttons. :P

This has saved me from writing a new thread. Thanks OP. Now to go read the stickie on shot rotation macros. Hunters have to many abilities lol...but! I love them all.

/agree

There's also the /click command. Don't quite remember the details of how it works, but it's a command that is like clicking. Not sure it'll work with a petbar, so your best bet is to just have dash on auto.

I tried leaving Dash on auto-cast but half the time it would be down when I went to attack an enemy. I'll try the one Aethien suggested to see if it works.

Thanks for the info.

If it's down then that means either you have too little focus on your pet or the CD hasn't finished. It's a (I think) 15 second CD. So either kill stuff slower (lol) or be used to it only going off 1/2 the time. Like me. MM for great justice.

I use that macro, combining attack and charge / dash. I used to have charge / dash on auto and just clicked my pets 'attack' button. However charge has a bug where it can break traps. In either case, I want to save the speed for when I send a pet at a second or third mob. There have been too many times when the speed boost is on cooldown because of autocast and I really wanted it.

It's strange actually. I leveled all the way to 59 without dash, then went to Winterspring to get Claw 8. Saw the rare cat, dropped my pet and tamed it. It came with Dash 3, so I played with it while training my new pets loyalty. Now I can't live without Dash, pets just feel to slow. Either way though, I now I have my first 60 :3 so I'm pretty happy right now, specialy with this macro that makes my life so much easier.

I personally don't think you even need a macro for Dash, unless you only want your pet to Dash when you tell him to. I keep it on auto on my cat's bar, and he uses it whenever I tell him to attack, as long as the CD is up. I also believe it's longer than 15 seconds though.

My favorite macro by far though is this one:

/petattack
/cast Hunter's Mark

That way I ALWAYS have Mark up, and I don't need to press 2 keys to do it :)

All I know is the CD for Rank 2 Dash is half the time the Dash actually lasts.

My preferred macro is
/petattack
/cast Aimed Shot

Because for me it's hardly worth casting Mark outside of PvP or grouping.

I can't remember the syntax off the top of my head, but the following is what I use. All bound to a key.

/petattack [nomodifier:shift, nomodifier:ctrl]
/petpassive [modifier:shift]
/toggleautocast [modifier:ctrl] growl --> I'm not sure about the /toggle command, I'll go look it up and edit this.

If you want to get the pet out quickly you can turn off dash and add

/cast [modifier:shift] dash

to the macro as this will trigger dash when you want to pull your pet out of a sticky situation.

Essentially you can toggle growl, and send the pet in and call it out really easily.

Wow this is great. Though would it be wise to add /autoshoot on that /petattack /cast huntersmark. Or would that not work?

I would not add /autoshoot to this. My reasoning being that I want my pet to hit the mob before I do. I usually let my pet take a mob to 90% and then unload. I'll pull off, but the mob won't get to me before it dies. As for hunter's mark, it doesn't add that much while grinding, and in raids, there is too much pet maintenance. You'd be reapplying mark to often and wasting mana. Better to keep them separate.

I use this one. Seems to work pretty well.

/petattack
/cast Dash(Rank #)
/cast Hunter's Mark(Rank #)

If you don't specify the rank, the macro will use the highest available rank. - Saves you from having to update the macro whenever you train a new rank.
