Not sure i would bother speccing proc till lvl 40 when you can get HS. But if you wanna try i would think a decent lvl 33 build for aoe grinding would look something like http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/paladin/talents.html?tal=0000000000000000000005305103500001100000000000000000000000000000

I'd take the 3 points from Precision and put them in Improved Righteous Fury -- 6% less damage is no laughing matter whereas precision won't really do anything while AoEing.. You use it to help overcome the added chance to miss fighting bosses that are higher level than you.. you AoE by killing things 2-3 levels below you in general.

Also, if you want to just AoE grind for fun or for tanking practice that's fine, but it's no longer the quickest way to level if someone told you that. Doing quests and killing single-target as ret is the fastest way to level, it's also not as tedious. The novelty of AoE grinding starts to wear off after a while, at least it did for me.

It's been the opposite for me. My Pally got stuck at 31 as Ret for months as I simply didnt want to play him. I respecced Prot to duo with a rogue for a bit. Had so much fun with it I didnt switch back.

It's no longer the most efficient way to level, but having fun is important. If you enjoy your levelling process you'll spend more time doing it and so in a weird way it becomes the most efficient. I always wanted my pally to tank and it frustrated me that I was supposed to level as a DPS spec. It reminded me of FFXI where you had to play a class you weren't really interested in to 37 just because you needed it to unlock your chosen class/use as a subjob.

Now I'm playing my Paladin as a tank, I'm enjoying it more. There's a lot of fun to be had from having 3 same level mobs beating at you even pre-plate and laughing as they barely manage to budge your healthbar down 10% before dying. Actively wanting adds, and daring runners to come back "yeah that's right *****, go get your friends! Oh wait...you brought a caster?! No fair! ZOMG BUBBLE!"

OHHH.. I can SOO relate to this... well, sorta...

I have levelled a Ret Paladin up to 55 now and have LOVED it so far, and plan to continue to level him to 70 and beyond as a Ret. He is incredibly fun to play

That being said, just for fun I started a new Paladin who is now 25, and I have put every single talent point into the Prot Tree just to see how that would work (YES, I will put a few points into the Ret Tree eventually to probably get Parry or whatever, but for now I am NOTHING but prot).

It has been TREMENDOUS fun so far... I got BoK as soon as possible (I love running around Lakeshire and buffing people with that... they don't expect it from a prot of my level), and I already have 3/3 points in Imp Righteous Fury, so I get the full 6% damage reduction... You really DO beg for adds and for runners to bring back friends! Yah, the casters still suck, but you can always switch target to the caster and mow him down and then go back to the non-casters (as long as this strategy doesn't aggro the entire planet... lol... although lay on hands and a quick mana potion will usually get you out of THAT situation too!)

0/16/0 is actually a pretty darn fun build for a Paladin at level 25. And duoing with a Rogue is totally killer! I just hold aggro and let the rogue backstab/poison/gouge the crap out of everything.

I giggled like a teenage girl when I read this and drew an uncomfortable amount of attention at work. Like the poster who followed this stated, rogues make excellent duo partners with these. A good one will take those casters right out of the equation. Yep single targets, especially ones leveled 5 or so levels above you in oh, say early thirties, is like trying to chip through a 10 foot thick cement wall with a flathead screwdriver. You can certainly take on these mobs and come out ok with niceties such as SoL/JoL but you may be in for the longest most boring battle of your life. That aside, you start multi-target pulls (of the melee variety) and throw up a consecrate with ret aura, sanctity aura, and imp righteous fury and you should be able to hold the full attention of the masses. All the attackers will soon start to generate your procs and you become like a sword and shield hurricane (even better when you bring in a shammy to the party). Not to mention SoL/JoL and SoW/JoW make you wonder if anyone's hitting you at all or if you actually ever cast anything.
