Well, Hello! A lot of basic information about druids can be found at the top of the page in the "READ THIS FIRST: Druid 101 by highRfrequenC" sticky.

I'm going to assume since you only mentioned bear that your post 10 but pre 20? Mostly from 10-20 you'll fight in bear form, as it is our tanking form it adds greatly to your survivability. Or some people enjoy rooting (Entangling Roots) a target in place and hitting them with Starfire, Moonfire and Wrath (it's rather mana draining). Since the general rule of thumb is to level Feral (talent tree) and re-spec later if desired, chances are you'll use bear until you hit level 20. At 20 we get another form which is Cat form, that is our DPS form. From about 20-70, you'll be fighting mostly as cat (Unless you go Balanced).

Anywho the meat of the matter, check out the sticky it has a wealth of information. ^^

Welcome! As Gryph says, please do read the sticky. It's smarter than all of us.

Short answer for solo play: Use bear when fighting two/three or more. Use cat when fighting single targets. Use caster when not specced Feral.

Don't go resto, you won't kill anything except yourself :D

Feral is your best bet as they've stated before, you can level that from 10-70 and then spec balance or resto if you wish to change up your play style. But Feral is the path of least resistance to leveling as a druid.

At level 13, you'll be opening with Entangling Roots, using your spells for damage until the mob gets to you, then switching to bear to finish it off. To be honest, playing a druid can be kind of tough until level 20 when you get cat form, so hang in there.

Now that you've read the sticky you'll have an idea of a talent build to follow. Improved Mark of the Wild is not a talent you'll generally want. It costs 1 gold for your first respec. If you're new to WoW you may not have that, and it may seem like a lot of money at level 13. Don't panic, just start spending your talent points in the right places, then respec when you can. Money is actually pretty easy to make. I recommend taking skinning/herbalism (others prefer skinning/mining) and auctioning every single thing you gather. Fishing can also be a good money-maker, plus you can cook the fish for nice buffs that will help you as you level.

Man, somebody wants this to be the rogue forum :( <3 kawainui

Anywho Imp MOTW seems like an optimal place to put your talents right now but it's not really all that important. Furor is definately nice for you but you won't really see the benefits of it until later in the levels. Ferocity may be your best choice depending on which tree you want to use.

PS: I use 5/5 Imp MOTW on my resto druid just because I don't ever get hit and I raid quite a bit.

Lol, Arex...you gotta admit that 5/5 Imp MotW on a raiding resto druid is a BIT different than Imp MotW on a low teens druid trying to level through the bad stretch before cat form. : )

I agree with Kawainui in thinking that we should collectively err on the side of 'tough love' in reacting to the notion ImpMotW as first talent spend. Not to be nasty about it, but I think it's as worthless a first talent as we can grab, just a shade worse than Feral Aggression I guess.

In leveling my second druid, I took balance talents through 20 to increase both my DPS and survivability with Starlight Wrath and Nature's Grasp, then as soon as I got cat form at 20 I respec'd to Feral to grab Ferocity, Feral Instinct and Brutal Impact, which gives access to Feral Swiftness which in itself speeds up leveling SO much. I always recommend this approach to new drudds because it gives you a feel for your caster role early, then slots you into the cookie cutter "fastest leveling" build while giving you experience with your furry side. Then at level 30 or so, if you miss the caster playstyle, you can switch back or tough it out as feral while waiting anxiously for your moonkin-enabled respec at 40.

Improved mark of the wild... Please read the sticky. That talent is ... well I wont saw what I am thinking. But seriously, your first five points there I mean...

Honestly, that is the hands down worst place to spend your first five points.

Tough love baby.

Go Furor, Ferocity or Starlight Wrath for the first five.

Don't do what you are saying, it actually causes me pain to think you would do that. Like real physical pain.

It causes me even more pain. This is how I leveled my druid. It's EXCRUCIATINGLY painful. It took 3-5 minutes to kill ONE mob. Good news, I never died against one mob, and can always run away. Pure resto spec from 10-70 is painful. Very much so, especially on your first character.

I started on Feral to about 35, then when I switched to doing alot of dungeons I went over to resto. Respec was easy and I have more than enough mana to do whatever I want to deal damage.
