Jaguero Stalker levelFollow

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I can't search.
I've read conflicting information regarding the Jaguero Stalker in STV. Petopia and Wowhead say it's leve 41, but others say 50+. Reading the comments on Alla is even more confusing!
Does anybody know what the correct level range is for this beast, and does it still teach Prowl level 3? I only want it for it's Prowl!
Also, Petopia states the following: "but if the skills are too high for your level then you will also lose them the next time you zone or log out". How can I find out if Prowl rank 3 is too high for a level 43 hunter? Will the skill just disappear if I zone or log?

Thanks

From my memory, those jaguars are level 50ish.

Also, Rank 3 requires a level 50 pet.

So even if you could find a pet that has it, you wont be able to learn prowl 3 yet.

You'll have to get level 50 yourself before you can get those skills. But hey, it's better than waiting for level 59 for the winterspring cats.

But it's fine. Prowl doesn't really shine outside of having a NE hunter in Arenas. That 50% bonus won't add nearly as much damage as having your cat get to its target faster outside of prowl.

As a Nelf who also plays arena's, I can tell you that prowl is without a single doubt not worth it.
As hunter you basically need a scorpid to cover your Viper sting.

However much I lurve my Humar pet, I can vouch for Aethien's comment. Prowl in Arena = Nigh useless compared to Scorpid Poison.
In BGs and World PvP however? Prowl rocks. Out of bloody nowhere a gigantic Red Humar pops up with Frenzy while a very very angry Huntress pops up at the same time dropping an Aimed, Arcane and Multi in your face. Followed by a Conc and a few Steady/Auto combos.

Usually ends with dead opponent. ---> Shadowmeld, Prowl, await next victim,.

Prowl is virtually useless in PvE and in arena. I gladly take dash over prowl there. However I agree with North here, prowl does go great with a NE in BG's. It's simply perfect, goes hand in hand.

Thanks for the advice. I tried it out before the comments above appeared, and you're absolutely right, the pet had the abilities, but when I logged back in they were gone.
Never mind, I got level 2 from and Elder stalker on the mainland, that only needed level 40 :)

A few patches back some of the zones were redone by Blizzard. Dustwallow Swamp had a near complete revamp. Stranglethorn Vale had a few relatively minor modifications. Jaguero Isle had the mobs nerfed ten levels. Those Jaguero Stalkers were once level 51ish. They are now 41ish. However Blizzard failed to change their innate skills. That is how a freshly tamed level 41 cat can have skills too high for itself. If you don't learn the skills before your new pet is dismissed by mounting up, etc. the animal will magically lose the skill. If you learn the skill but are not high enough level, whenever you zone or log out, you will unlearn the skill also.

I've found Prowl useful occasionally in PvE.

Without it I would have been in some fights I wasn't ready for but using it (and Shadowmeld) has meant the patrol walked on by.

The other time may just be me being cautious but pet pathing can be a bit weird. Sometimes you hug a wall and your pet decides to run out into the room and back. If the group has decided to bypass some mobs I usually turn Prowl on just in case the shortest way between two points is a zigzag Smiley: smile.
