Guys, noob question incoming, Im sorry if the answer is obvious.
I got this http://eu.wowarmory.com/item-info.xml?i=34679 last night, could someone please tell me when the "power of the light" triggers what does it actually give me? (more power? more haste?)
Thanks for any info you can provide

It gives 200(?) attack power for 10 seconds.
The buff can proc from every attack you do, but it has an internal cooldown.
Overall you'll see about one proc per minute. So the value of the proc is 33AP on average.

I haven't bothered to check that particular procc myself, but usually you can just check the Weapon/Item/Trinket/Enchant on WoWwiki, WoWhead or here an Allakhazam. Someone on any of those sites will usually have found out what the procc does and have posted the information in the specific procc info. It just takes a bit of searching on any of these sites and pretty much any such information can be found.

Not always with sources and verifications though.

Edit:

Equip: Increases attack power by 64.
Equip: Your melee and ranged attacks have a chance to call on the power of the Arcane if you're exalted with the Scryers, or the Light if you're exalted with the Aldor.

Procs
Aldor: +200 attack power for 10 sec.
Scryers: 333 to 367 damage Arcane Strike.

There you go, one simple search on WoWHead turned that up. Search on Alla or WoWwiki and you would most likely have found the same.

It procs about once a minute yeah, but your calculations are a bit off.
It's up for aprox. 10 seconds each minute so an average gain of ~50AP.
Counting the proc as a static 50AP, it gives 18 agi, 19 stam and 114 AP. quite impressive for something so easely gained.
Wich makes it a rather good necklace, for aldor a least.
The scryer one is quite a lot worse i think.

Edit: it has a 45 second internal cooldown, and with it being able to proc off of any attack it should be up 10 sec out of each 50 seconds roughly.
From my experience with the neck, that sounds more accurate then 1 proc per minute as it feels like it's up all the time.

That would also boost the average AP gained from it by another 10, making this 1 very strong necklace.
I'll have to check later, but assuming you're not short on +hit this neck might just rank quite damn high.

For farming it's even more ridiculous as it will be up nearly every fight.

My calculations are off? No way :)

Assuming 1ppm and 200 AP per 10 seconds it gives: 200AP for 1/6 of the time that is an average of 200/6 = 33.3AP.
So my calculations are correct. It might be that my assumptions are off and it procs more often than 1ppm (however I check for this buff in my WWS logs and I see a proc rate of roughly 1ppm).
If it procs more often the AP gain would increase (if it e.g. procs every 50seconds you would get 200/5 = 40AP on average).

To get an average gain of 50AP from that buff it would have to be active for 25% of the time (which means a proc every 40 seconds which is impossible due to the internal cooldown).

I think you mixed the neckpiece with the weapon coating which yields 300AP for 10seconds at ~1ppm and thus gives 50AP on average.

There are things that live longer than ~5seconds when you are farming?

It's no problem, and dont be afraid of North, he isnt really mean :)

Just remember to check WoWhead and the comments on the item.
There is almost always a lot of useful information on it right there.

The aldor version of that necklace is so incredibly OP versus the scryer's. It's really ********* I can see why they changed it from 100 crit rating to something else... but Seriously... Arcane Strike completely ignores hit rating! It MISSES more often than it crits.

Alla should work on those Sigs and Characters screens and stuff. It is totally buggy.
I imported my toon from armory and still every single stat is off (time to change my sig).
I currently sit at ~2.5k RAP / ~900agi / ~38% crit; 4k RAP would be awesome, even with raid buffs and procs I rarely see more than 3.7k RAP

Um I have the arcane version (I know I feel dumb) and it never misses in my case. Im not sure if this has anything to do with hitcap because my hunter sits at ~8% and I dont ever notice a miss. I do however notice that it likes to proc quite often and can hit anywhere from ~350 - ~750(crit). I'm also not sure if this is for all hunters with the scryer version or just me but when the trinket 'procs' my hunter swings his melee as if performing a raptor strike and then I notice the damage from the proc on my screen. I dont notice any spell detail when it procs only my hunters swing for some reason >_>.

being hitcapped should help stop flat misses, but Arcane Strike can be dodged and parried. I don't know too many hunters who stack up on expertise, though.

After 663 autshots on Dr. Boom (Was going for 1000, but some douche came along and killed him), he dodged once and parried once. Note that Dr. Boom is a level 68 mob, and bosses have a much higher chance to dodge/parry. According to WowWiki, bosses have about 6% chance to dodge, and somewhere between 12-15% chance to parry.

Kinda bullsh*t, yeah? I mean, it can obviously be a ranged attack, and the name even suggests that it's magic.

Edit: It does, at least, seem to crit based on tooltip crit.
