What gems should I consider for....Follow

#1 Jun 22 2008 at 2:22 PM Rating: Decent
Looking to outfit a couple pieces of gear with some relevant gems... the gear is:

Boots of Foretelling
Trial-Fire Trousers

I would need four Yellow gems and one Red gem.

I normally solo.
I am demo spec.
I am not looking to spend 50g+ on each gem. Depending on what the stats are I might go about 20g per gem. (yes... I know each server's economy is different, but none are THAT different)

In the past I went with stamina over anything else, but that was pre-L.70. I have been looking at Enduring Talasite, Glowing Nightseye, and the Potent Flame/Noble orange gems. Any others I should be looking at?

I am not going to be doing any form of weekly raiding unless it is a trip to Kara every so often.

I figured some of you Warlocks out there would know what gems would fit my need.

Thanks for the input.

Since you said you are demo and not Sl/SL I will assume you are a 7/43/11 type spec.

For damage.

If your spell damage is 1350 or higher and you are hit capped. (202 for raid bosses and level 73 mobs, 63 for 72 mobs and most heroic bosses) (after all raid buffs) then try to get Reckless Noble Topaz. If your a 0/40/21 build it might benefit to get Potent Though.

If you are not hit capped then try to get either Great Dawnstones or Veiled Noble Topazes (depending on how close you are) Hit will scale the best until you cap. It's up to you to decide if getting 202 is a priority since you only raid kara once in a while.

Remember you don't need to match sockets for the bonuses, Boots of Foretelling has a pretty lackluster socket bonus.

I'd actually get rid of both peices of gear, and get the FSW Boots and Spellstrike Pants.

i'd really like to know how you go those items "normally solo" :P

20g gems would be affront to those items... farm for a few hours and get proper gems m8 and you'll help yourself as well as your guild/pugs.

otherwise, besides "weekly raiding" in times of solo you might consider some pvp items that ought to help you even while solo as demo and just slap +sta on them. on gear obtained from raids dump proper gems :)

basically, solo, you need +sta or +spell dmg. in a raid you need things like spell hit, spell dmg... etc...

your call though since i don't have a clue how kara is nowadays but i guess its mostly boosting or pugs :P
