As my leatherworking continues to build ..Follow

and I continue to gain levels, I start thinking about what leatherworking skill to specialize in? I am somewhat confused because there is a strong leaning toward Dragonscale for a hunter and I am not really sure why? It seems most say because you get so many mail pieces to craft but to me the stats are not really geared to the hunter. The set (is it elemental?) that has good agi and stamina stats seems much more geared to the hunter. It is said that this leans more to a rouge but a hunter needs good stats in these too. So I am a little confused, since I also think a hunter would tend to stand back and attack from long range so that armor would not be that big of a deal but high agi would. I welcome any input into this and what your feelings are on the subject.

I am a LW. The best thing currently about LW is ... Drums. These make LW worth it in my opnion. I dont have any really high end patterns yet but i did use a few different sets as I was leveling. But yes I would recommend Dragonscale.

Also Rogue, not rouge.

The Ebonscale set is the best IMO. Very nice, I think it rivals up to T5 if I am not wrong?

T4, not T5.
and sadly, there are much better pieces from badges atm.

The reason for leveling LW would be the Boots of the Crimson Hawk, Belt of the Black eagle/belt of deep shadow, maybe the BT shoulder pattern and the chestpattern from SWP (gogo 15k gold? :P)

But primarily, as rinnkel said it's the drums.

Leatherworking is also win and awesome because of the sheer Hunter relevancy. I mean, hunt, shoot, kill beasties. Skin them and turn their skins into something useful? If that doesn't scream "Hunter", I don't know what does.

herbalism/alchemy if you look at it from the ranger side.

JC/Ench if you look at it from the elitist side (only if your group has a full drum rotation already).

I'd pick alchemy over JC anytime.
And hunters are pretty much the perfect candidates for drummers.
So if i wanted to optimise myself, I'd be LW/Alch or LW/Chanter.

You guys seriously have to pull your heads out of the performance only trough. What feels like a Hunter profession? Jewelcrafter? Yeah, you deal with gold and gems out in the wild while waiting for the beasties to show up. Enchanter? Yeah, you are so magically inclined... Sheesh, I was talking about what screamed "Hunter" feeling. Not what would be the best performance profession.

On that note however, I want to level a new Hunter for PvP only who can have JC/Engineering.

The Ebon Netherscale set is very good when compared to the Felstalker set (the LW blue 3-piece set) with plenty of extra Stamina (actually, the Felstalker has none unless you gem it) and Crit.
But looking at the stats, it's all about +attack power and has no agility at all. Which would make it useful for BM and MM hunters, but near-useless for Survival.
I'm trying to farm mats for it at the moment, but the number of Primals to make the set is just huge.

And as for the OPs concerns, go Dragonscale. Amount of armor and health may not make a big difference to PvE, but in PvP it's essential. And even in PvE, sometimes you have to survive a hit or 2 to WingClip and duck back out to range.

Don't worry, it won't last too long. Apparently not everyone agrees that I should have Sage and I am finding quite a few "decent" posts. Smiley: laugh

Also, I am Sage because every last one of my posts is filled with relevant and useful information.

The shoulders you're referencing are the Shoulders of Lightning Reflexes. They're so nice. Shoulders of Lightning Reflexes
