Hit Chance Follow

#1 Jun 20 2008 at 2:58 PM Rating: Decent
Hi,
I am trying to figure out if my weapon skill affects my hit chance when in cat or bear form. I notice that at times when I switch from staff to 2h mace that my damage is not what it was before, I had assumed it was due to skill but that worries me as it will mean a lot of fighting out of form to level the skill. Please help anyone who knows.

When in forms, you have a "Feral Weapon Skill" which is always maxxed for your level. You can have a maces score of 1/350 and it won't affect any if your attacks in bear or cat form. (it will affect Moonkin, Tree, Travel, Seal & Caster forms attacks).

Since you're new to the board I'll let ya know that RareBeast is always right. OK, opinions can't technically be right or wrong they are just opinions, but when it comes to facts and game mechanics, you can take whatever RareBeast says to the bank. Weapon skill doesn't matter when in feral form.

How do you know your damage is not what it was before? You running a damage meter or it just seems that way?

What are the stats on the two weapons?

Doesn't Matter: Weapon speed, weapon damage, proc effects or enchants

Matters: Strength, agility, attack power, feral attack power

If it counted on your weapon hit chance, you would be missing a LOT of attacks. Jeebar is pointing you in the right direction. Each strength is going to give you 2 attack power and each agility will give you 1 (in cat form). i am betting that your dps changed because of the stats of the weapon, not your skill.

A quick little test would be to open up your character screen, bring up your melee mini screen and then check out your attack power with each weapon equipped. Your staff should have a lot more attack power.

As said, it has no effect. However, if you are swapping out to something like Earthwarden that has the Expertise stat, yes it will make a difference on your average hits and that may be what you're noticing.
