Stances: Shall I Dance?Follow

My Armory Profile

I am a level 52 warrior using the 2H Fury spec in the sticky. I installed Quartz timer so as to work the Slam with my slow 2H weapon. My play style is solo PVE. I've tanked an instance just once, a PUG for ZF. According to the group, whom I told in advance was my first time so that there were no hurt feelings should I suck, I did very well - likely the result of getting great advice from guild tanks (my main is an epic 70 hunter) and having seen it done well (and badly) enough times from that perspective to have at least a small clue.

I've used defensive stance three times, once while tanking and twice when I accidentally pulled multiple adds grinding and switched to defensive stance and a sword-and-board combination with an "oh, crap!" macro I had built for just that contingency.

I have never used Berserker Stance. I've never felt as though it has slowed me down in levelling. I guess my only gripe would be that I find myself often having to bandage or eat between mobs while grinding, but from what I've read here that's more of a talent spec issue than a stance issue (i.e. prot spec requires less downtime between mobs than fury spec).

Am I wrong for sticking with battle stance 99% of the time? Is my perception faulty, and could I be levelling significantly faster by varying my stances?

Stance dancing can be useful, it depends on the situation.

In a 5 man for your level, I probably would not be using it much; perhaps a dance from battle for the charge to defensive stance once engaged.

PvP is another matter entirely, stance dancing is a necessity in BGs, and Berserker stance is very powerful when used properly.

I would not be overly concerned about it; I would, however, make sure you have your stances keyed to be used quickly, without having to consult your keyboard.

Yeah, I considered mapping the stances to the side buttons on my mouse, or maybe to the scroll wheel (I heard druids can do that to cycle through their animal forms). It hasn't been an issue yet, though.

I should also mention, perhaps, my attack routine: Charge, Battle Shout (if necessary), Demo Shout, Thunderclap, and then Slam as per my timer. After crits I hit Rampage. If the fight is going long, I'll hit Bloodthirst to try and get back a little health.

I change my F1 F2 and F3 buttons to stance changes. I don't really need to select a party member for anything (except intervene... And I have a target macro for intervene, which again doesn't make me target party members). So it's fairly easy with the keyboard design I have.

basicly, for soloing battlestance is the way to go usually. on ocations i have swiched to defensive to disarm and stuff like that to reduce downtime but its very few mobs where its useful, and its never essential. other than that possible zerger stance for pummel or if you get immobilized and mob runs a bit away, then intercept can be a blessing.. but this is all very situational and not relevant for most head to head fights.
if you are doing dps in a group swiching to arms for overpower and then back to zerger is usually what i use it for.
for tanking i very ragely use it. the odd exeption is if taunt is on cooldown and i need to grab a mob. then mocking blow can be used.
