Are death knights supposingly accepted in both factions?Follow

I was wondering, from blizzard and other websites. Are death knights accepted into both factions? I read in WoW wiki that Blizzard is currently writing a lore as to how alliance accepted the death knights.

I thought that death knights are the enemies of both factions. I was imagining death knights as being a limited class with only a limited amount of cities and villages that accept them. And that there would be specialied BG that would enable the alliance and horde to fight the death knights.

Can anyone justify one this? I'm really wondering how death knight fits into the game not in terms of gameplay, but the basic story itself.

The short version- DK's defected from Arthas' undead army and went back to their faction before they became a slave to Arthas.

As to why the decided to defect now and now earlier, or how they were able to defect in the first place is still speculation, but it will probably be something along the lines of how Sylvanas and the forsaken were able to break free of Arthas.

Edit: gram0rz escapes meh!!

Based off my knowledge, I can only offer a guess as to how this would turn out. Based off what I've heard from Blizzard so far (while I know the answer is boring) I'm pretty sure that the Death knights will be accepted on both sides and will no doubt be just like any other class. The only thing that makes them different is the unlock requirements in order to create one. That being said, I admit that it would be quite interesting if they took your idea and only allowed the death knights their own cities and capital to which they belong. This would open up the possibility of having the Scourge as a playable faction in the future (after all, if not the alliance or horde, who could possible accept Death Knights?) A pity that I truly think Blizzard will not choose that course of action.

Yes, because we don't have any playable undead at all.

Oh wait, we do.

I don't specifically mean the "Undead" fraction of the Scourge but perhaps some of the more interesting species of creatures that the Scourge possesses. Crypt Walkers, Abominations, Liches; Even if they sound like ridiculous races to play, it would help expand the lore and really, I doubt that players would honestly complain if they were allowed to play some of the coolest/creepiest looking creatures in WOW. But this is merely day-dreaming. I obviously don't expect this to be in this expansion or coming any time soon, if ever. Stuff it alongside the "two-headed ogre" race idea. ;p

Abominations are creations of the fleshy undead that we are, I don't believe liches were common enough to justify into a race of their own (let alone the shortage of class types for them to pick from), and the Nerubians (Crypt Walkers) are a non-playable but plentiful NPC race in the upcoming expansion.

However, the point is that all the playable races need to look humanoid enough so that gear can be reasonably shown on the character models. Crypt Walkers are rather horizontal, Liches lack any visible lower half (the "robes" have nothing beneath), and Abominations have too many appendages. It is possible to have all of these playable... but it takes more twisting, more effort, more time, more lore, more balancing.

Plus abominations would never be able to go inside any building, being too wide for the doors.

You would think Male Tauren would either, but they have a lot of trouble in booty Bay and Undercity.

I hear the sound of the world's smallest violin playing "Hearts and Flowers". Someone here doesn't even begin to realize that canon is what Blizz says it is, not what they wish it would be. I get really irked at people saying "I have my views, and everyone must conform to them or they are godless philistines!". YOU ARE NOT THE KEEPER OF THE LORE, YET YOU TRY TO PUT YOURSELF ABOVE WHAT BLIZZ HAS ALREADY SAID "will be". Well, ***** you. I don't give a sh*t what you believe (or laugh at). I'm going to play whatever faction I want with my DK. All you do by making your own version of reality (if that term can actually be applied to a computer game), is hobble yourself with your own narrow views.

Death Knights to alliance is like demon hunters to Night Elves.
They are accepted, just not with a warm welcome.
Giving in to the darker powers, but using those powers to fight the Lich.

If you roll a Death Knight, you'll understand why they're available for play on the Alliance.

It actually makes much more sense than the Horde.

I'll be posting the spoilers in my beta thread.

It's also why alliance don't have anything to do with Warlocks. Use demonic powers? Summon the very beings they fought against? Madness that this would be allowed!

Oh wait...

yet there is a scarlet missionary in the chapel in stormwind who probibly is not happy at this. also warlocks control demons but Dk will reserect fallen warriors to fight for him which is probibly worse than an imp.

YES BECAUSE WOWWIKI IS UPDATED BY PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT IN ALPHA/BETA, SO THEY TOTALLY KNOW WHAT THE DEATH KNIGHT STORY LINE IS.
